Zack Space Endorses Lee Fisher
Zack Space “whole-heartedly” endorsed Lee Fisher in the U.S. Senate race in a conference call today. Space cited Fisher’s Department of Development work on behalf of Southeastern Ohio as the major driving force in his decision. Let’s also not forget that Space lives in Dover, Ohio. This is an area that Fisher has ties to.
Space also specified that he had a high degree of respect for Brunner, but felt Fisher was the better choice.
This of course means that Space will not be entering the race to replace George Voinovich. When asked about his decision not to run, Space cited his desire to finish the work he has in progress in the House.
“My primary focus, as Congressman from the 18th Congressional District, is to make sure that my rural constituents have the same opportunities as those in urban areas. It could not be more important to have a leader in the U.S. Senate who will bring about those opportunities. Ohio needs a leader who will fight tirelessly to create and retain jobs, strengthen our towns and communities and find every opportunity to improve the lives of our residents.
“I believe that Lee Fisher is that leader. During my time in Congress, I have worked closely with Lee to fight for these new opportunities. And I know that, as our next U.S. Senator, he will continue to be a leader on behalf of all Ohioans.”

A fundraising email has already been sent out from the Fisher campaign highlighting the endorsement.
