Have you ever heard of screen saver password when you are using your computer? A screen Saver is a moving picture or pattern that appears on a computer screen when the mouse or keyboard has not been used for a specified period of time. We are always talking about the safety of our computer. In fact, we can help make our computer more secure by creating a screen saver password, which locks our computer when the screen saver is on. The screen saver password is the same password that we use to log on to Windows. So if we want to create a screen saver password to secure our computer so that we can be away from our computer for a period of time if we do not want to power off the computer.

Then to begin with, we must set up a Windows password, for if we forgot Windows 7 password, we can’t complete the following steps about how to create a password for screen saver. So I would like to tell you the method of creating a password for Windows first of all. What I do is to click on Start, Control Panel, the User Accounts and Family Safety link and the User Accounts link in order. In the Make changes to your user account area of the User Accounts window, click the Create a password for my account link. In the first two text boxes, enter the password I would like to start using. In the final text box, Type a password hint. At last, I clicked the Create password button to confirm the new password. OK, now I have set up the password for my Windows OS. In the end, you should create a password reset disk just in case. With Windows password, I could create a screen saver password.

I opened Screen Saver Settings by clicking the Start button, and then clicking Control Panel. In the search box, type screen saver, and then click Set screen saver password. Select the On resume, display logon screen check box, set a time when I want the screen saver to start, and then click OK. (I am told that the time I choose should be not long enough for an unauthorized person to use my computer, but not so short that if I stop working at my computer for a moment, the screen saver locks it.) Besides, I know that after I click Control Panel, I could also click Appearance and Personalization, Personalization and Screen Saver in order. In a word, I can reduce the risk of open documents being viewed by unwanted eyes when I have to step away from my desk by setting up a screen saver password. Once my password protected screen saver is activated, no one else can use my computer until the correct password is entered.

With Windows password in hand, we could avoid other people from our computer without the password. With screen saver password, we could also prevent from others’ touching when we are away from the computer for a period of time and do not want to lock the computer. Then using our Windows password for our screen saver password is good method for us.
