Chamber Gears Up for Elections, Lame Duck SessionThe U.S. Chamber is kicking its election efforts into high gear and preparing to make an aggressive push for pro-business legislation in the brief lame duck session beginning November 13.
As part of its successful VoteForBusiness program, the Chamber is making 10 million to 15 million voter education phone calls and mailings to both the general public and members of the Chamber Federation. More than 100 Chamber staffers are fanning out around the country to engage in voter education activities in key congressional districts.
During the lame duck session, the Chamber will try to move legislation repealing the death tax, extending approximately two dozen expired business tax credits, making the Bush tax cuts permanent, and increasing domestic production of energy and greater conservation, among other things. The U.S. Chamber has produced a new and free Get-Out-the-Vote (GOTV) kit geared to small business owners to help them engage their employees in the political process. The kits include envelope stuffers, bumper stickers, and a poster for the workplace. If your company would like to partner with the Chamber on its GOTV program, please call 202-463-5604, e-mail vote@uschamber.com, or visit:
