The Case Of Mike Crites And The Fishy Wikipedia Entry

If you head on over to Mike Crites Wikipedia entry, you’ll see that it’s been marked for cleanup because it “reads like a news release, or is otherwise written in an overly promotional tone”. Go read it, it really does.

That pretty bad right there, but that’s not what I’m posting to talk about. Do you know who created the Mike Crites Wikipedia entry? A user named “Mdole72”.

Now to jump back a bit, there used to be a Republican blog called “Lincoln Logs” down here in Southeastern Ohio. It shut down a while back when the owner got a job with a communications company. It was run by a guy named Matt Dole. Could this be the same guy? Probably.

As you can see above, Matt was hired by Communications Counsel Inc. He’s even listed on their website.

Anyone want to take a guess as to who Mike Crites hired to do his consulting work? If you guessed Matt Dole and Communications Counsel, give yourself a pat on the back.

Click the image to see one that’s readable. Basically it says that Crites paid Communications Counsel $10,478.22 for consulting and advertising. Don’t you think that warrants some sort of disclosure or something?

ROTFL

I sure hope they didn't pay $10,000 for a flattering wiki entry. Maybe it's for all those great Crites (Mac v. PC) knockoff ads that I've never actually seen on the air.
