Sounds Like Ted's Saying Obama's Buying the Election

From today's New York Times:

“Senator Obama is spending a lot of money on TV; if this can be purchased, he can win it,” Gov. Ted Strickland of Ohio, a Democrat who has campaigned across the state with Mrs. Clinton, said in an interview. “I think we’ve survived the initial blast of the Obama phenomenon, and we’re now holding steady.”

Um...what the heck does that mean? What does "if this can be purchased, he can win it" mean? That Obama' s buying the election? That he has to buy it? Ted...not cool.

And why would Ted even imply Obama's trying to buy things? Given, it's no secret Obama is outspending Clinton in Ohio by a 4 to 1 margin, but that's simply aggressive advertising by someone that has the money to do so. If we want to talk about candidates trying to "buy the election" Ted should instead focus on his gal, Hillary. Yesterday in conversation I spoke with one of my sources about Hillary's efforts to secure the endorsement of Mark Mallory, Mayor of Cincinnati. All in all, I heard an estimate she'd spent well over $100,000 just trying to pick up his endorsement - with trips to the region, sending in surrogates, ad buys to pressure Mallory into back her, and contributions to local candidates. So what stinks of trying to buy an election more? Aggressive advertising or sinking massive amounts of cash into trying to sway key Ohio elected officials? By far, Mallory isn't the only Ohio officeholder Hillary tried to buy off - early in the campaign her political office had promised the stars, moon and the sun (as in massive amounts of GOTV money and contributions) to Ohio elected's willing to get on board.

So once, again - that's a pretty lame claim for the Governor to make.

Excuse me, Governor?

He's buying ads with the money my neighbors and their neighbors and their neighbors and I gave him. Not huge amounts--what very little we could part with and still make sure our kids have what they need.

Hillary received more money from pharmaceutical companies than any other congressperson in 2006--oh, except Rick Santorum. She also racked up the most money from the defense industry--also most twice as much as the weapon-makers' second favorite, Mitt Romney.

If she fails to woo voters with ads this weekend it won't be Barack's fault, it'll be because she didn't get enough from the dudes in the pinstripes and camo!

contributions

evolin

Evidently BOs crowd is better heeled than HRCs, as many of us are retired on limited incomes, middle income with many family responisbilites or out of work living just day to day.

I understand that the sophisticated college educated crowd with good jobs is supporting him and I expect many have given the limit allowed.

I am on a pension, and have been supporting two other sick family members who have been shut out of the health care system and needing to pay their own way and COBRA.

Yet I have also been supporting Hillary as much as I can.....sometimes doing with less myself.

Seeing BOs misleading barrage of ads on my TV screen is sickening.  He will never get my vote.  He will not get my family's vote.  He will not get many of the Democratic votes.  Many of us will vote republican if he is nominated.

Then Evolin

If you intend to vote for McCain if Obama is the nominee that means you're looking forward to your pension losing some of its value.  You can look forward to your COBRA costs continuing to go up.

And you know what, quit acting as if you have the market cornered on a tight budget.  These days even us college educated types have tight budgets.

You can continue to act like a petulant child, which is a common malady I see in her supporters.  Here's a suggestion: if that is your rationale, you're entitled to it, but don't post your ignorance public forums.  Makes you look moronic.

moronic? malady? Petulance? Ignorance?

evolin

Name throwing dos not do it for me!  I will decide for myself who I will end up voting for in November.  BUT so will many, many others who will not alert you guys in advance.  It will just be a SURPRISE!!!!

Evolin...

The words weren't typos... Buh BYE!!!

Re: contributions

Far be it from me to step on those sour grapes you are cultivating, evolin. I will, however, take a moment to correct your factual assertions.

It's true that part of Obama's base is the college-educated crowd, but if that was all, he wouldn't be winning the election right now. The only demographics that Hillary out performs him with are women (in particular senior white women) and latinos.

As far as contributions go, his funding well is far from tapped out. This is pure wishful thinking on your part. The average donor to his campaign has given $109 out of a possible $2300. Furthermore, he is expanding that donor base at a beakneck clip.

Patrick Ruffini has been covering this story for a while now.

REAL News - Cheney's NEXT Big Energy MONOPOLY POWER Ripoff

Obama is the pre-packaged "New & Improved Chocolate Flavor" Presidential candidate PRODUCT - being hyped & PUSHED by GE and its WHOLLY-Owned subsidiaries NBC & MSNBC...along with Westinghouse & its subsidiary CBS...while slamming the Clintons all day every day. (Assisted by...CNN/FOX/ and a lot of newspaper & radio media dependent on advertising$$.)

GE is the 2nd largest corporation on the planet.

Obama is IN with the Nuclear Industry: Excelon Corp of Illinois has been one of his largest contributors from his entry into politics to the present. Excelon is the largest nuke operator on the planet;owns Con-Ed of NY; more nukes in Illinois than any other state.

GE, Westinghouse, Excelon & 3 consortiums of other companies are planning to build 29 new nuclear power plants. Their Wholly-Owned & Wholly Influenced "News" media are selling the Obama Product because Obama is in favor of Nukes.

In 2005 Obama Voted FOR the Cheney Energy Bill (H.R.6) which ENABLED the nuke industry to make its Plans to build 29 new nukes-by Guaranteeing Taxpayer Payback of any nuke loans that default. (No nukes were built for the past 30 years because the banks wouldn't loan the money - too risky)

Obama Voted FOR the Cheney Energy Bill-despite the fact the Congressional Budget Office rated the risk of default on the nuke loans at 50% or greater. (Does that sound like...GOOD...JUDGMENT to You?)

[NY Times has several articles about the nuke plans & a map showing all 29 locations; Wikipedia covers the subject]

Clinton Voed AGAINST the Cheney Energy Bill and said her Energy Plan does not include nuclear.

? "Its about the FUTURE...Turn The PAGE" ?

Nope. ts about Turning the PAGE BACK to the PAST: Obsloete 50 yr old nuke power plants-the dirtiest most expensive kind/centrally-controlled MONOPOLY POWER-instead of inventing New, Clean, Green De-Centralized inexpensive Energy.

An ad campaign has already begun on the TV media to re-package & re-name nuclear power plants as: GREEN & CLEAN -for-everybody too young to remember the 1970's anti-nuke movement and all the Bad News about nuclear energy.

Don't be taken in by the ad campaigns-Google:'nuclear waste dumps' & read about the hundreds of BILLIONS of gallons of nuke waste at the Hanford Washington dump; 140 tons of plutonium stored at Rocky Flats, Colorado; Barnwell, South Carolina; leaking into groundwater and rivers; plutonium released into the air around Denver from 500 instances of fires at Rocky Flats; stored on-site at every nuke reactor in America...presenting hundreds of potential "dirty bomb" targets for terrorists.

Is it true that Obama takes No Contributions/NO MONEY from Registered Federal Lobbyists?

Yes. It's a LawyerSpeak/Trick of: Speaking a Small truth covering up a Big Lie.

Nope, doesn't take money from REGISTERED FEDERAL Lobbyists.

DOES take money from STATE Lobbyists, Not Registered Lobbyists, AND the wives, husbands, law partners, aunts, uncles cousins...of Registered Federal Lobbyists. Gets money from the same big corporate donors as any other candidate.

Obama's campaign finances are involved in the prosecution (by Patrick Fitzgerald)and trial of his friend of 20 years Antoin Rezko. Some of the funds... allegedly...extorted by Rezko went into Obama's campaign coffers. Curiously, Iraqi Power Plants amd fraud are also involved in Rezko's trial. (Google: Obama -Rezko- Alsammarae-Auichi- IRAQ POWER PLANTS)

GE & the same wealthy people who sold the "new & improved vanilla flavor" Presidential PRODUCTS: Reagan & Bush/s 1 & 2 - are behind the massive ADVERTISING CAMPAIGN to sell you OBAMA.

At the beginning of this campaign season a large majority of voters were looking forward to electing Clinton. Then Obama stepped in and started the dirty campaigning that has created the DIVISION he so hypocritically decries. Obama played "the race card" so he could win in South Carolina. He was caught red-handed playing that race card-but the media blamed it on Clinton-even though they all knew they were pushing the Big Lie.

With nearly ALL "the mainstream media" pimping for Obama & slamming, smearing, and lying about the Clintons-it is truly amazing enough voters have seen thru the Media-Created Obama "movement"-for Clinton to STILL be in the race.

The only way a very small minority can CONTROL a very large Majority is: DIVIDE & CONQUER-Exactly the same Republican Strategy/Deception they have successfully pulled for most of the last century And ALL of this century, so far. . .

GE, the nuke industry/wealthy have hedged their bets & they will get Billions of your money via 29 new nukes IF either Obama or McCain is elected President.

Ladies & Gentlemen, Dads & Moms buy nothing GE & Westinghouse are selling - not Obama, not a washing machine, a dishwasher, 29 nuke power plants, or a garbage disposer .... because there is no garbage disposer for Radioactive Nuke Waste. Do not allow them to poison the earth and your children anymore.

Ain't campaign rhetoric something?

For instance, I've seen that list going around in email and posted ad nauseum on blogs by Obama supporters, listing St. Barack's awesome legislative accomplishments, and diminishing Hillary's, which consisted of a few petty holiday declarations, monument re-namings, etc--it didn't pass the smell test. When you do just a little research, you find that the truth is a little different from what's going around virally, and here are just some of the more interesting bills and amedments that Sen. Aren't you being as selfish as the candidate you support?

You might want to reconsider using more than your share of blog space on something so long, no one will bother to read.

I'm laughing!

I started to read that posting and then stopped when I realized it was longer than the distance from Chicago to Cincinnati.

Peace. OBAMA!

A Thin Record For a Bridge Builder

Obama worked on some bipartisan issues, such as a state version of the earned-income tax credit, after he was elected to the Illinois Senate in 1996. But he also gained a reputation for skipping tough votes. The most famous example was a key gun-control vote that he missed in December 1999 because he was vacationing in Hawaii. The Chicago Tribune blasted him and several other vote-skippers as "gutless." One Chicago pol says that "the myth developed that when there was a tough vote, he was gone."

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2008/03/more_evidence_of_obamas_bipart.html

Awww Macy

You're from Dayton. Now, do me a favor and go bone up on Illinois civics, OK?

Present votes have an intrinsic value in the Illinois Senate.  Oh, and I'm sorry, but people are entitled to vacations.

As for your sorry ass quote:  the key word there is "myth"...Myths are untrue.  Sowwy.

Hillary willingly gave Bush authority to wage war

in both Iraq and Iran.

A war that sends lives and dollars down a rat-hole. And a war which she voted for to prove her toughness.

Please explain the perspicacity of those two crucial votes.

Sour Grapes make bad whine

What about all the canvassing the Obama campaign did yesterday? In Erie County we had alot of volunteers go out to knock on doors. we covered alot of Sandusky Saturday and are going out again today in Huron. We even had a volunteer walk in MILAN, which is heavily Republican. We didn't even try to canvass Milan in '06. So let people carp about money and ad buys. The grassroots are turning out to reach the voters, and that's what does it.

Grassroots is what does it!.....I agree with you 100%

I've done grassroots campaigning for Obama here in Illinois from his Senate race onward.  My daughter works for Milwaukee County as a budget analyst and has been working with the Obama campaign up there, and coincidentally drove with a friend of her's down to Cincinnati on Friday night so that they could canvas with Obama organizers in that city to "get out the Obama votes".  All efforts working from the "bottom up" are what will get the job done.  I applaud all of you who are out there working to win Ohio for Obama.

P.S....Is Obama appearing at any town hall meeting or rally today in Ohio?  I saw that he was at Parma Heights yesterday, but I see nothing for today.....and Hillary is all over the place (in more ways than one) today.

Peace. OBAMA!

Gee, the Clinton folks deserve an award for whining

Ted has been working Ohio for Hillary, for the past 13 months and using all kinds of tactics that everyone on this blog is aware of. If he's not going to hold Ohio for Hillary, he just can't blame it on Obama's WISE spending of the money WE gave him and asked him to spend.

Ohio

evolin

I live in Ohio and have seen the repeated  misleading TV spots by your BO candidate.

The one about NAFTA is almost an out and out LIE.  Hillary had NOTHING to do with the passing of NAFTA.  Instead wants to revisit and revise it, but the ad trying to connect her with it plays over and over again.

Yes dirty politics as usual.  I come from working people, union people, and still pay union dues even when retired.  I recognize Obama as a false prophet and a misleader.

I support Hillary all the way.

Evolin...Quit Misleading

If you're going to come in here uninformed, don't post, please.

He never said she had anything to do with passing NAFTA.  What he did say and backed it up with quotes from the candidate herself was that throughout the years she has supported it.

When you can dispute that post your evidence, until then kindly SYFPH unless you know what you are talking about.

again cherrypicking

evolin

Again he is cherrypicking bits and pieces out of context of the total thoughts expressed.

I lived through the passing and signing of Nafta.  I did not like it  It has given some good benefits and some not so good effects. I believe she is expressing that.  BUT Hillary did not pass it or sign it. She was not in the senate when it was passed and not the president when it was signed.

Several in the administration voiced that she was against it early on.  Carval and even Bill Clinton agreed she was not in favor of Nafta.

Obama is the vote "present" guy.  He is careful not to have a record to quote the short time he has been in politics.

Yes, cherrypicking to proof a half baked notion

Nafta was not agreed upon by anyone who actually thought about the impact. Hillary is not a favorite of the press because she had the decency to admit when something is just not right. However, Obama gives motivating sermons without any detailed plans stirring up feelings not critical thinking and logic. Obama is likened by the press because he is on his best behavior with manners and stays on the fence with any controversial issues. I would like to know just who is backing him;who are the people who gave him the funds to start his campaign. If you notice that he changes his speeches to exactly what the press wants answered and reads it from a script? We all need to be giving all candidates a second and third look to see just what we have been lead to emotionally instead of cognitively.

Response to Amjbuckeye

You need to take YOUR own advice and look again at your beloved Hillary a first time let alone a second or third time.  No ONE likes Hillary but OLD WOMAN and uneducated poor folks. Get used to it amjbuckey as Hillary is on her way home, thankfully, and hopefully forever because she is getting to be old too and will NEVER have another chance to gain the power she so seeks; that in and of itself makes me grin from ear to ear!!!!

So didnt I Evolin

Live thru the signing and passing of NAFTA, so whats your point?  Further, voting "present" in Illinois state senate has a PURPOSE and its intentional.  Do you know why that is Evolin?  I doubt you do because you don't have a mind that is opened it is only a pro Hillary mind, which dooms us all.  Thankfully, there aren't many of you out there to turn the tide against Obama :-).

Voting present is used to mark bills that should be passed but have constitutional issues with the way the bill is worded/drafted; therefore, he is saying that I will support this bill, but first it must past constitutional mustard in the way its worded, in order for it to hold up in the long term.

Duh Evolin...Nice try, but you can't misinform EDUCATED voters.  Try again Evolin, but you will lose on that one too, but I ask you to give your best effort.

Feh

Your comment rather nicely highlights the problem I have with the "35 years of experience" line. From where I sit, it looks to me like Clinton has got about 1.5 terms in the US Senate vs Obama's .5. She's campagined for elected office twice to the best of my knowledge. First time was against a second string stand in for Guliani, the second time against an even more back bench candidate. She was running in an overwhelmingly blue state with tons of money. Obama ran his US Senate campaign against Alan Keyes, so thats about a wash. Obama ran 2 (?) times for IL Senate, so overall, he's got more campaign experience than Clinton. I'm thinking that is showing up in how he's come from way behind to leading the race.

On the Clinton White House years, she wants to tout the health care plan efforts, but that never got anywhere. There are plenty of people that place at least some of the blame for that failure on her management style. One piece of legislation from the Clinton years that did pass was NAFTA. Since that's not all that popular in these parts, she's trying to run away from it.

So, what's the deal? Was she baking cookies in the White House kitchen, or was she a co-President?

just another comment

I suppose that most all voters have looked at voting issues of Presidential candidates, as well as, voting records. Hillary is bypartisan as an experienced politician and Obama has not even voted on the International Issues. His voting record and issues commentaries are not consistent. Hillary knows the ins and outs of governmental partisanship and is not running away from any issue but has reconsidered her position; which regarding NAFTA she was very opposed to initially. However, all of us if given enough information upfont would after time reconsider all legislature: if we actually read the first, second, or even third bill; Baking cookies in the White House kitchen;maybe so after all it was her home for a lot of years. Don't we all bake cookies in our own home kitchen. Was she a co-President? That is an interesting take on the former first lady's position. I doubt if she would have ever had the change to be a co-president because Bill Clinton appears to be a one man show and rarely ever lets anyone get a word in. I do think that Hillary smoothed out a lot of uncomfortable times for her husband; so I think she was a wife to Bill and a by partisan ally building a foundation for democracy which the vice president at that time did not seem to have time to do.

And now Obama is being called out by the Sheet metal workers

The campaign needs  to full fess up and respond to the Sheetmetal union workers  letter in full and not with some  loop hole filled answer. They ask the following on behalf of the citizens of Ohio:

1) Did you direct your top economic adviser - Austan Goolsbee - to tell the Canadian government that your speeches railing against NAFTA are just political rhetoric? If so, why?

2) Are you aware that Mr. Goolsbee held a secret meeting with the Canadian Counsel General Georges Rioux? Have you spoken with Mr. Goolsbee about that meeting and will you repudiate his comments?

3) Why has Mr. Goolsbee been unwilling to deny that he discussed your positions on NAFTA with Mr. Rioux? Why won't your campaign disclose the full details about that meeting?

4) Given these reports, why should Ohioans believe that you will act on the campaign promises you have made about NAFTA?

5) Sen. Clinton has issued a comprehensive plan to fix NAFTA. Why haven't you done so as well?

Obama will need the unions to come together and support him when and if he is the Democratic candidate in the GE.

Nothing is owed to ANYONE.  FYI:  The Sheet Metal Workers are on record for supporting Clinton.  They're playing their cards like anyone else.

Thanks Entrwriter

For your post in debunking the lies that the HRC supporters spew and soon they will be silenced and we won't have to listen to their whiney lying comments.  In about two days, when Obama officially becomes the nominee, the HRC supporters will be silenced bc we will no longer have to listen to their whines.  I can't wait!  They are giving me a headache like children who can't have their own way do.

...

Yes, it is time for Obama to be confronted by all unions/voters

I congratsulate the Steel Workers Union for calling Obama on all the issues he never discusses because he is to busy using his lecturers as a pastor. I am very concerned that all unions need to confront all candidates and get answers that are much more than just pep rallied to engage voters emotions. If it were not for all the unions memberships this country would not have stayed true to being a democratic country. thanks so much for bringing vital issues to the forefront.

Calling for?

Please.  The story was debunked.  It's that simple.

Response to Evolin

Evolin-

Just like Hillary didn't have anything to do with PASSING SCHIP, the Children's Health Insurance in the mid 90's either but she sure does take credit for it, doesn't she?

How come you and other Hillary supporters allow her and yourselves to take credit for all the "good" legislation passed during the Clinton years BUT NEVER any of the bad?  You can't have it both ways and hence why your candidate continues to come off as WHINEY because she is.

And if your a union member what do you say about her being on the board of Walmart the most anti union corporation out there?  Oh that doesn't matter, nothing matters but getting a WOMAN in the white house regardless of her pro corporatist voting record, actions, support, etc.

You must be an uneducated over the age of 50 or 65 voter...Its time for your generation to step aside as your generation has made a mess of things and are ALL out of touch.  Move aside, your time has passed.  Bye Bye Evolin...

good news for hillary

the ohio primary is tuesday. which means that Ted won't be asked for comment on her campaign anymore.

Ted will be lucky if he's able to win an election for

dog catcher the next time he runs for office. Pray tell what has he done since he beat Blackwell? The last announcement I heard he made had something to do with making all state employees arrive and leave for work at the same time. Good job ted (sarcasm dripping on my keyboard) Did the idiot ever think what impact that decision would have on single mothers or the environment? I am sick of Republican light and if and when he runs for any office in this state, I go from door to door canvasing for his opponent in the primary. Gawd what a wasted vote

Why Ted? Why?

Someone who knows more than I will probably know how much Strickland is beholden to the Clinton's and the DLC for his governorship. It seemed to me at the time that almost any Democratic candidate would have won after Taft.

Hillary's video with Strickland nodding in approval was a bit embarassing IMHO. The Ohio governor, with his "Obama is buying the nomination" riff is just placing another jigsaw piece into the Clinton support puzzle. Not puzzling at all....to be expected, especially in such a tight race.

actually, that's not at all true

It's Hillary's supporters who were maxed out near the beginning. 90% of Obama's donations are "small." This is why he was going to have a fundraising advantage--his donors could keep giving $25 to $50, while hers were done. She has gotten some more in the past couple of months and has done better than expected, and fortunately for Hillary, she does get a ton of money from lobbyists. And a vote for McCain is a vote for more of W's cutting services, tax cuts for the wealthy, money for wars and not citizens, increasing costs to the middle class, denying more people health care, so if you are truly concerned about your pension and your sick family, you will vote Democratic. In fact, I find it hard to believe someone who has sick family members would not vote for a candidate who wants to expand health care versus one who preaches about "small government." And if you think Obama's ads are misleading, you should see the mailers Hillary's sent out, or what McCain and the Republicans will throw at either candidate in the general.

Misleading politicians

Its not just Hillary, nor Obama, but every campaign some politicians speeches and advertising are misleading to hook us emotionally; which is unfair but it sells votes. About Obama's funding; it is apparent that when he began to campaign way back in 2004 that his funding, not 90%, from voters, he was orginally funded by Church of Christ because he is a pastor in community grass roots, he was finded by certain business people, and someone needs to find out the truth because it was after he got the emotionally motivated voters to believe his "pep rally jargon" that less than 50% of his current funds come from everyday voters. 90% is a hyph from the networks that back him because he does not want the public to know who else backs him. Be careful with assumptions and believing everything in the news because the networks that back him are connected to others who funded him.

that was supposed to be..

in reply to "evolin" above.

Hillary backers sure have problems with the truth

They love to keep bringing up this supposed discussion with the Canadian government which has been proven false by the Canadian Government itself days ago. Perhaps you all believe the Bush doctrine if you repeat a lie often enough it makes it true. The constant insinuations that Hillary has a plan and Obama doesn't on any issue, is total bunk. Any one that doesn't know where Obama stands in detail on each and ever issue is flat out lazy. Just looking at his and Hillary's websites alone shows a major contrast on issues. He addresses many more then she does and in great detail. His not only says what his stand is but what he will do, why and what he has done on these issues on the past. He doesn't have to depend on claiming he fought and failed because the big ole pharmaceutical companies beat me or well My Husband did this and I was "in on the discussions" One of these candidates is real and actually has a record of success. That is Barack Obama.

blinded by bias of websites are you?

Honestly, I would hope that all voters have enough common sense to know that any politicans website is going to state their position rather than the truth; come on now, give it a little thought, they want your money. How about looking at their actual voting records and their stance on issues; Obama gives rhectoric and motivating words; his detailed plans did not come out on his website until they were written by his advisors and he has to read them as a script because he has not had time to even read them enough to say them without cue cards. What has he actually voted on as a politican or a candidate for President? Be careful because if you do some research you will see what party he was orginally connected to and how his strategies changed his choice of parties to represent. You are using your situation and one discussions to vote for a man, Barack Hussein Obama without knowing who is behind him and he always says what gets a round of applause. I am sorry that pharmaceutical companies are in power but Obama is not going to stop them; he does not get along with any other politican of any party and no one backs any of his "bills". Do your homework because if you or anyone else votes for a candidate based on emotional connection to one issue than we are going to get stuck with another regime similar to the "Bush, or Nixon era; good luck to you I hope you check out more than a candidates website because Obama has no success working with our government; and unless you are present when he and all other politicans discuss issues in their communities, of which Obama has 2 months experience, the pharmaceutical companies as well as all insurance companies and all big business will get their wallets fatter because voters will not vote intelligently but with half baked notions that Obama is real and actually has a record of success that he orginated.

Blinded by the Record, AMJBuckeye

You see, AMJBuckeye, some of us actually do a little research and we cross check it.  Becuase I don't want to take up too much space on this site, I will merely provide you with a link.  It only requires one click of the mouse and some brain power to read this.  Then, do what I did - crosscheck it:

http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2008/2/20/201332/807/36/458633

I suspect, however, for someone who spouts lame BS such as this:

good luck to you I hope you check out more than a candidates website because Obama has no success working with our government; and unless you are present when he and all other politicans discuss issues in their communities, of which Obama has 2 months experience, the pharmaceutical companies as well as all insurance companies and all big business will get their wallets fatter because voters will not vote intelligently but with half baked notions that Obama is real and actually has a record of success that he orginated.

That you are unlikely to even bother.  Do not come here spouting trollish tripe without the evidence to back up your answers.  Do a little research instead of being factually and intellectually dishonest.  That is if you can.

What Do Obama Supporters Support?

I'm new to posting, but I have to say it seems to me that no Barack Obama supporter can actually name an accomplishment of Obama's. So it occurs to me that Obama's supporters don't actually think he's the best candidate, they just hate Hillary. How can we pick a leader this way? If we went policy for policy, I don't think anyone could pick Obama over Hillary. I just worry that everyone is drinking Obama's koolaid because he's NOT Hillary. But does anyone think he stands a chance against somone with John McCain's resume? Hillary does. We're going to blow this election again by playing these kinds of divisive hate politics.

Re: What Do Obama Supporters Support?

I've been a supporter of his for many months now and an admirer for much longer than that. I remember he was one of the few voices to speak up against the war from the start.

Since then I have paid attention to him and again and again he has spoken the same things I find myself saying on the war, on politics, on ethics, on education, etc.

One accomplishment I admire him for is his work on loose nukes with Lugar. I also like what he did with ethics reform in the Congress. I think his ideas on making government more transparent is dead on, and I especially like the appeal of his google like search tool.

I think he stands a damn good chance of not just beating McCain but trouncing him, which would give him a very big mandate to use towards the very ambitious goals we have heard laid out by both candidates this season. That's not a claim I can seriously entertain with Hillary. Her negatives are far too high and static to allow her much more than a victory by a thin majority. I also think it is folly to enter a "whose got the best military resume" contest with John McCain and expect to win that. Obama would pivot that debate in a way Hillary cannot.
