So, You Wanna Know What Happened To Naugle?

Administrator - Posted on 19 January 2008

Is he working for the Ohio Republican Party? At the bottom of the Olentangy? Oh where oh where could he

be?

The question has become so heated amongst the politically interested and gossip prone, that it's become a mainstay in Columbus and elsewhere. Folks from both side of the aisle, consultants, candidates, the media, heck, even one of my professors on the first day of the spring semester have asked what's up with him and where'd he go? Because as all y'all paying attention surely recall, he disappeared without rhyme or reason on December 6, 2007 - just a week after a possibly libelous post on RABid about the Attorney General.

Well sports fans, I've got some answers for you - and you'll shocked about what young Matty is up to these days

He's delivering pizza.

Yes, you read that right.

He's a pizza delivery boy.

I know this because last night at exactly 12:15am one of my sources text messaged me that Mr. Naugle had just delivered pizza in a bright lime green "Panzera's Pizza" shirt to the band playing at the Grandview Cafe in Columbus.

You can visit Panzera between the hours of 4pm to midnight and sample any of their tasty tasty specialties. Check out their menu here.

So the once publicly illustrious king of the Ohio righty blogosphere had to enter the workforce. That's respectable, no matter how you have to earn your dime. I don't have a problem with what he's doing, but it sure as heck does leave some questions to be answered.

Matt was in an MBA program at Capital, is he still engaged in his first year or did something happen there? Why did he leave the blog abruptly (and ignore all email questions) without an explanation. Does he have a sudden need to raise funds, maybe due to an impending legal issue with Marc Dann (or could it be something else)? Why did the Republican Party leave him out to dry? You'd think that the folks he's been vehemently fighting for these past two years would take better care of Mr. Naugle and help him with employment...or did something happen?

Plenty of questions to be had. The current rightangleblog definitely should provide an explanation, but I doubt that will come. Who knows, maybe answers will come with the next slice of pepperoni. You never know.

I hear the "Panzera Monster" is delish.

I will be ordering a pizza from Panzera tonight. :)

No matter the quality, it will be the best pizza that I have ever had.

I read this post several times but I'm still trying to figure out if it's satire or factual. I mean, I know delivering pizza is a perfectly legal job and in a city like Columbus with as many college students as it's got, I'm sure it's very steady, reliable work. But seriously, this is the kind of thing you'd claim if you wanted to make something up to ridicule someone. If it's true, though, he should have just 'fessed up.
So someone is working his way through school on a part time job and you make a post ripping on him about it? Naugle also used to work as a page at the Statehouse, and I know for a fact he's probably making more money delivering pizzas. There are Democratic aides that work at various restaurants, bars, and retail establishments in order to make ends meet on top of their day jobs. Do they deserve the same kind of ridicule?

I've landscaped, lifeguarded, and done book keeping. Plenty of perfectly fine jobs. Hell, once I was a host at Bahama Breeze where I had to wear a Hawaiian Tropical shirt to work everyday. Trust me, I've worked at a ton of jobs - as long as you can bank an honest check, that's respectable. However, anyone that tries to turn this into what the job in question here is either not reading the article right, or purposefully trying to spin it.

The issue is the GOP's top attack blogger wrote crap for over a year, with the last piece about the AG pretty over the top. He made allegations of an affair and named names without ever giving any proof. Then he disappeared. No explanation. No rhyme. No reason. Everyone wants to know where he's at and what happened. What caused the sudden disappearance? So if you want to ridicule pizza delivery jobs, that's your prerogative. However, this post was about the continuing mystery around the disappearance of Naugle. Big difference.

Wow!   4 responses to this post and NONE what I would have expected.

Funny thing: I also delivered pizza in college- and it does pay pretty well compared to the other crap I did (e.g. cleaning office buildings, cataloging library books, delivering ice and flowers, tending bar)

And I'm sure- if Jerid's post is true- that Matt is doing his best to get by- just like the rest of us did.

But mainly I hope that Matt, in his new service-industry job, is learning something about how hard it is to make a living working a crappy, min-wage job in America.

Maybe- just maybe- he's learned something about real people and REAL work.   And maybe it's changed his mind- just a little.

My first job was at a pizza shop and I worked my way through college as a waiter. It's tough, but it builds character. Maybe this will bring Matt out of the GOP ivory towers.
Crap jobs are the perfect incentive to finish school. Why does anyone care what Naugle is doing?
Cranky...
