Since When is the Columbus Dispatch No Longer a News Organization?
If my remarks seem sharper than usual tonight, if I seem tired and cranky, I blame it on the jet lag. Seriously. You should try crossing six time zones in two days and see how you like it.
Right now, I'm taking aim at a favorite target of mine: The Columbus Dispatch.
Did I not get the memo that they decided to stop serving as a newspaper and simply reprint Kevin DeWine's press releases?
That memo must have gotten lost somewhere. Because when the leading newspaper in Ohio's capital city completely misses the fact that the 6th US Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati threw out the judicial ruling that they based their entire Sunday editorial on FOURTY EIGHT hours before it runs, and fails to mention this ANYWHERE in their newspaper or on their blog, I can only conclude that they are in fact no longer a news organizatoin.
They must, in fact, just be printing exactly what the Ohio GOP tells them to print.
Oh, the 6th Circuit tosses out the Ohio GOP's lawsuit? That's not newsworthy.
Oh, Secretary of State Brunner puts out a press release explaining how yet again the courts have proven her interpretation of state law correct? That goes in the trash.
But wait! Here's another press release from Steve Stivers explaining how Mary Jo Kilroy "screwed up" the on-time and on-budget ballpark! Let's endorse him!!!
It wouldn't be funny if it weren't true.
And then, they have the BALLS, the cojones, the chutzpah, the audacity to claim that its Jennifer Brunner who is fueling suspicion about the integrity of Ohio's elections!?
Attention Dispatch: The 6th Circuit just said that YOU and your buddies in the Ohio GOP are the ones who are fueling this suspicion! The same Ohio GOP who has had all but one lawsuit against Jennifer Brunner thrown out of court!
For the good of our state and our nation, Dispatch, KNOCK IT OFF!!!
I eagerly await the mental gymnastics necessary for the Dispatch to endorse John McCain this year. Twister, anyone?
