Senate Minority Leader Ray Miller-- Please resign

If I have to continue reading stories like this, I have to wonder if gerrymandering is the real reason the Republicans have such a large majority in the State Senate:

In the Senate, Republicans have about $2.3 million on hand, more than seven times the total for Democrats. Senate Minority Leader Ray Miller of Columbus, who hasn’t filed a valid campaign finance report since mid-2005, apparently did not do so again yesterday. (Source: Columbus Dispatch)

WTF!?!?  Let me guess, he lost his most recent campaign finance documents in the move to the Senate Minority Leader's office?

Oh, and with twenty-seven days to go until his Ohio Elections Commission hearing on his consistent abject failure to comply with basic campaign finance reporting requirements, the Secretary of State's site still does not indicate that any of the delinquent reports have been filed, either.

Did he honestly think that this story would just go away?  It might, if Ray Miller was gone.

There is absolutely no excuse for someone to violate our campaign finance laws this egregiously.  And our party should not have someone like Ray Miller leading our party in any way if he can't comply with the most essential rules designed to protect the public's trust.

I will not waste my time this election cycle to help either the Democratic Senate Caucus or any of its candidates.  And State Senator John Boccieri, if you expect me and others like me to support your bid for Congress, you can forget it until you deal with this leadership mess you voted to create.  And that goes for anyone else in the Senate caucus looking to move up.

If my party is going to take the attitude that this chronic failure is merely a minor paperwork issue, then it's going to cease to be my party.  Period.  It's just that simple.

O'Grady Report Shows Fine for Campaign Finance Law Violation

Apparently in December, the John O'Grady campaign admitted to breaking Ohio campaign finance laws.  It appears that over $7,000 is unaccounted for by his campaign.  The campaign finance report called the penalty an "Assessment".

At least he turned himself in.

And more mystery in his report.  He raised $113,000 at an event on Wednesday but didn't itemize any of the donors.  He wanted us to know he had the money but doesn't want to say who gave it to him until after the primary.
