Ridiculous Dispatch poll

Just looking at this Dispatch poll and I think it is a little ridiculous to be honest

The cross tabs show far more Dems that GOP, even answering the question "Who you voted for, for President". It might be a sign that Democrats are far more energized than Republicans, there have certainly been signs of that for the last month or so, but the margin on the Dispatch poll is massive.

If it were me, I'd trim 8% off all of these margins.

For me however the crucial indicator in this poll doesn't rely upon its demo

The poll shows that 35 percent are voting a straight Democratic ticket, twice those casting a party-line GOP vote. Perhaps even more telling: Almost five times as many independents are voting for all Democrats as are backing all Republicans.

That's what generates big, long coattails for Congressional and General Assembly candidates. That margin is worth about 5% to every Democrat in the state. I had come to the same conclusion when crunching numbers last week.
