UPDATE: Ray Miller Throws Rosemary Palmer Under The Bus

David Potts - Posted on 14 July 2008

I'm late for a dentist appointment the way it is, but I'm furious over this.

I've just heard that Ray Miller has told Rosemary Palmer that the Domocratic Senate Caucus will be supporting Gary Kucinich in the 24th state senate district.

Seriously, is there something in the water in Columbus?  Why is the Democratic leadership suddenly trying to play God, rather than let the process play out normally?

UPDATE: Maybe its because Gary Kucinich hasn't done anything to campaign for this race, while Rosemary Palmer sent this flyer to the members of the Cuyahoga County Democratic Party Exec Committee.

I 'spose Ray thinks his support will mean something. C'mon -- Senate D leadership raised $17k after the last reporting period. In other words, why does what Ray Miller says make any anyone think they mean "support" in a real way.
This is so aggravating and disturbing because, as someone who lives in the 24th and feels confident that no one who voted for Spada will support a Kucinich, no matter how much Gary has going for him, and is also in the 17th, where incumbent GOP candidate Josh Mandel is allowing stories to circulate about how this race could take $1 million to win so people should pony up and help him "survive"?????, I feel this area of NEOhio and Cleveland 'burbs being completely totally and utterly sacrificed. What is UP with that? Why is this? The something's gotta give strategy? Enlighten me o those who know so much more and are so much more politically savvy. Because as a resident, a voter and a Democrat, I'm pissed and I prefer Rosemary Palmer.

I keep hearing that Padgett's old district (20th) is going to be contested, yet I've seen no sign of support from Miller and company.

The man is nothing more than an ass who thinks he can use his position to run for Senate.

Please tell us that you're kidding -- isn't one Kucinich in Ohio politics embarassing enough? What is Ray Miller thinking?! Dennis has been embarassing northeast Ohio for too long now, and now we're going to put another one in office? Wasn't he a used-car salesman?

If Gary Kuchinich is the nominee, there will be a LOT of Democrats who will be voting for a Republican come November!  Maybe Ray Miller needs to start thinking about if he ever wants to get the Senate back, or if he wants to stay in the minority forever!

VOR, I said something similar to that, except with more expletives, when I heard this news.
Haha hilarity. Love it.
Just because Ray Miller has been unable to raise money doesn't mean he is stupid, though he often tries to prove otherwise. Did you ever take the time to think why the Senate Caucus isn't backing Rosemary Palmer? Could it be because she can't legally run for the 24th Senate seat? Up until about two months ago, her primary residence was in Cleveland. That is where she was running for Congress from and that is the address from which she voted. Besides, we don't have a chance at winning this seat. It is so late in the game, there is no strong candidate, no money, and an opponent in Tom Patton that has a tremendous amount of cross-over appeal and name I.D.

They knew about her residency from the start and thought it was a non-issue. I've even heard that the Senate Caucus' attorney gave her the OK.

There's gotta be something else going on here.

Article 2 Section 6 states, in part, "Each House shall be the judge of the election, returns, and qualifications of its members."    Ultimately, any challenge is decided this way, though challenges seldom get that far.

The caucus counsel could give her no better advice than that.  DPotts has it right.  Something else is going on.
