RAB: "Hate...Gays...SO...Much"

I can't stand touching this subject because it's just SO WORN OUT. But...I won't let the fine folk over at RAB win the narrative on this one...

You know it, I know it, everybody knows it. The Republican party is built on a homophobic message that is largely based off hate and fear. The Ohio GOP Blogosphere is no different.

Gay marriage is their rallying cry. After they get out the word "marriage" you pretty much know where the conversation is going...blubber...blubber..."hate gays"...blah...blah..."anti-family"..."end of the world"....It doesn't leave a lot to the imagination.

Naturally, when Governor-Elect Strickland named Mary Jo Hudson Director of the Department of Insurance yesterday, about 20 Ohio GOP bloggin' heads simultaneously exploded. Here's why: she's gay.

Of the ridiculously immature and innane comments from the rightwing, I think this one showed their intolerance the best:

"Gender Identity? Is before or after an addadictomy or chopadictomy is performed? "

Chopadictomy, real smooth there kid, somebody book that guy on the comedy circuit with Michael Richards, he's goin' places.

Here's the thing...we're not talking about gay marriage. We're not talking about civil unions. I'm not going to even go in that direction. RAB's whining isn't about politics or policy. These people oppose individuals like Mary Jo Hudson simply because of the personal identites they hold. It's that simple.
