Palin Is Bush Ideologically Without Being Bush
Two interesting points I picked up from watching Newsweek's Howard Fineman being interviewed on NBC News. One, as he pointed out, one of the reasons the GOP base is so excited about Sarah Palin is that she is George W. Bush's twin ideologically, but isn't named Bush and doesn't have any ties to Bush that are obvious at this time.
Secondly, Fineman reports that at the close of the convention, Gov. Palin is going home for six days to be with her son who is deploying to Iraq, and just as importantly, to study up. I can only imagine the extra luggage to hold all the breifing books needed to bring up to speed someone who 18 months ago was mayor of a city the size of Campbell, Ohio. Hopefully she's flying a charter aircraft, otherwise she would be racking up all kinds of extra and overwieght baggage fees with those briefing books.

Randy, what republican in their right mind would compare
I've never been accused of being in my right mind...
.. and I'm officially an independent. I side with democrats on some issues, republicans on others.
I've never heard suggestions that anyone compares to Bush, but that is not meant to imply anything negative (or positive) about the man. I know SEVERAL who feel he was the right man for the job at the time.
However, the topic at hand was comparing Palin to Bush. My comment was that what I was hearing was the comparison should be made to Reagan instead. However, it seems some people are more interested in stirring the pot than making accurate statements.
Personally, I have not yet made up my mind on the Republican Vice Presidential nominee. And I'm not 100% sure that I willl have decided by November. Personally, I am more concerned about the presidential nominees and where they stand on the issues that I consider important. I have another concern, but it strays to far from the subject at hand.
Randy, those SEVERAL who feel he was the right man for the job
are they comparing Palin to Bush. I mean if they thought that Bush was the right man for the job(at the time) why not compare Palin to Bush?
I remember back in the day how the true belivers fiercly defended Bush for his loyalty to his staff. I don't see that same loyalty to Bush by those same true believers. I mean let's face it, throwing Bush under the bus certainly shows that the right doesn't balk at doing things for political expediency and at the end of the day staying in power justifies any means.
"Throwing Bush under the bus"?
You must be talking to some folks in different circles. The several people who felt like Bush was the right man for the job (mostly) still feel that way. But they have publicly longed for a more Reagan-esque style of conservative leadership.
Turn the tables on this one, is Obama or Biden another Bill Clinton? I don't hear anyone saying that. Does that mean they are throwing him under the bus? No. Their styles are different. Yet some of the same people that supported Bill are now supporting Obama/Biden. Some that supported Hillary are now supporting Obama/Biden.
I could ask where is the loyalty to Pres. or Sen. Clinton. That's silly. I assume that the converts are either a) die-hard democrats that will support any candidate, b) die-hard McCain haters who will support anyone running against him c) people who are taking the best they can or d) true converts. I wouldn't call any of them disloyal.
The key point here was that Nick was saying Palin was the same ideologically as Bush. I pointetd out that some were commenting on the commonality to Reagan.
Randy so the answer to my question

Pics of Biggest Rally in AK history... anti-Palin

...Never, have I seen anything like it in my 17 and a half years living in Anchorage. The organizers had someone walk the rally with a counter, and they clicked off well over 1400 people (not including the 90 counter-demonstrators). This was the biggest political rally ever, in the history of the state. I was absolutely stunned. The second most amazing thing is how many people honked and gave the thumbs up as they drove by. And even those that didn't honk looked wide-eyed and awe-struck at the huge crowd that was growing by the minute. This just doesn't happen here.
Then, the infamous Eddie Burke showed up. He tried to talk to the media, and was instantly surrounded by a group of 20 people who started shouting O-BA-MA so loud he couldn't be heard. Then passing cars started honking in a rhythmic pattern of 3, like the Obama chant, while the crowd cheered, hooted and waved their signs high.
So, if you've been doing the math… Yes. The Alaska Women Reject Palin rally was significantly bigger than Palin's rally that got all the national media coverage! So take heart, sit back, and enjoy the photo gallery. Feel free to spread the pictures around to anyone who needs to know that Sarah Palin most definitely does not speak for all Alaskans. The citizens of Alaska, who know her best, have things to say:

Alaskan host Eddie Burk suspended for on air remarks

Anchorage AM radio host Eddie Burke has been suspended after broadcasting the phone numbers of women involved in organizing a protest rally against Sarah Palin over the weekend, his station manager said Monday.
In a statement, KBYR-AM 700 station manager Justin McDonald said broadcasting the numbers last week was “breaking station policy.” Burke will be suspended for one week without pay, he said.
“Though I do not agree with some of the comments he made, as a licensee, we attempt to respect everyone’s First Amendment rights, including Eddie Burke’s, our listeners’ and our nonlisteners’,” McDonald’s statement said. “That does not mean I condone inciting violence or harm in any way to people wanting to voice their opinions with peaceful protest.”

Bush or Reagan?
My conservative friends are comapring her to Reagan, not Bush.
Now who is using talking points? Tying Palin to Bush is just a follow-on to saying everything in McCain's plan is "4 more years of Bush".
Can you come up with something original?
