Ohio Lost $12,811 During The Creation Of This Post
I’m doing something I’ve never done before, I’m actually timing how long it takes for me to write this post. It has nothing to do with writing posts faster, though I do feel rushed, but with the budget.
You see, a few minutes ago I received an email with some numbers. These numbers showed just how much money Ohio losses during specific segments of time until the Republicans in the Senate finally decide to pass the budget. For example, every second we don’t get that budget passed, Ohio losses $23. That means every minute the Republicans stall, the state’s out $1,267. Ya, not exactly chump change.
We’re losing this money because the new budget contains several fee increases that would help raise money without raising taxes of everybody. Unfortunately, this vital revenue increase won’t take effect until the budget is passed.
So why am I timing how long it takes to write this? Because I’m wondering just how much more money Ohio could have had during the time it takes me to get this up.
I just stopped the timer at 9:17.9. We’ll round that to 9:18
9x60=540
540+17=557
557x$23=$12,811
And that’s not including the time it took me to run the math, spell-check it, format (including adding the graphic from the Ohio Democratic Party), and post.
Only a True Government Fundamentalist...
...would even approach a decrease in revenue to the state as losing money. Because in your view, it's the government's money first. We should be grateful they let us keep any.
Did it ever occur to you that some people need that money to raise a family?
Here's a thought, Dave. Shut it down. Make it hurt. Get your damn thieving hands out of my pockets and let's see what services are really vital.

What?
