OH-Sen: Fisher More Than Doubling Brunner In ActBlue Cash
It seems like it was just a month ago that Modern was picking on Lee Fisher for his late entry to ActBlue, the online donation hub for Democrats. Actually, scratch that. That just happened earlier this month.
Despite the slow start, I don’t think anyone really doubted in Fisher’s ability to raise cash. While I expect him to (at least this early on) focus on more traditional fundraising methods, they have made quite a bit of progress in online donations. In fact, they’ve now more than doubled Jennifer Brunner’s donations.
Right now, Lee’s showing a total of $41,081 contributed by 84 donors. Brunner, on the other hand, has just $17,776 from 132 donors.
While Lee has the apparent advantage with the higher cash total, I find the donor number intriguing. Barack Obama’s campaign thrived on small donors (which Brunner apparently has), and often went back to the same people for more small donations. With large donors and donation caps, that’s not really an option. That said, I’m not sure Brunner has a big enough edge here to really factor in as an advantage just yet. It’s just something that’ll be worth keeping an eye on in the future.
Finally, I’d just like to point out to Mr. Fisher (if he’s reading) that he has more than enough ActBlue cash to pay for advertising here on BSB from now until next November.

Just wanted to point out that since David posted this, Brunner has nearly doubled the amount she's raised on ActBlue and raised over twice as much as Fisher has since Monday. So, she's closing the gap on Fisher's online fundraising advantage quickly.
Just wanted to mention that. Carry on.
