OH-5: NRCC Tactless Ads Signal Desperation
Once again, the NRCC & Co. show that they're the biggest pricks at the party.
I just got done watching the NRCC and Bob Latta's new campaign ads, courtesy of the politico.
Ugh. I could scream. I could kick my feet and stomp. I could blab on and on about how despicable these guys are. But for you to really get what a low blow these ads are, you've just got to watch them for yourself. The Republicans have gone nuclear.
The NRCC's latest:
And not to be outdone, Bob Latta also had to show he can be a jerk as well as anyone else:
So, classy classy stuff. So much for keeping things above the bar from the NRCC. But hey, what was to be expected after both Bob Latta and his Republican primary opponent were both found guilty of lying during the primary. After you're willing to look directly at the voter and lie out your teeth, all holds are off. Now they're out to demonize Robin Weirauch.
So they broke out the same old tired Republican playbook they use when everything else fails. Abortion! rabble rabble rabble! Immigration! rabble rabble rabble! And on it goes. Funny thing is though, Latta seems to have forgotten his past in these hit jobs. Which is a shame, since folks in the 5th district like it when you remember your roots.
The most astounding claim out of Bob Latta in all of this is that Weirauch will raise voters taxes. I mean, afterall, one candidate's got a history of raising taxes, and one doesn't. A-hem.
-In 2003, Latta voted for HB 87 to raise the Ohio gas tax by 27%
-In 2003, Latta voted for HB 95 resulting in the largest Ohio tax increase ever
-In 2003, Latta voted for HB 87 raising driving fees
So sure Bob, keep using them thar talkin' points.
More than anything, the degree to which the GOP's gone nuclear in these ads signals a real fear. They're dropping into this race that, by all accounts, Robin Weirauch should not win. It's a safe GOP district after all. But still, the GOP burns through more and more money and uses ever escalating language to call Robin every name in the book.
Somebody's scared.
