In yet another sign of the approaching Democratic tsunami, the Ohio Democratic Party reports in a new fundraising message that recent independent polling shows under-funded challenger Rick Siferd (D-Lima) only 8 points behind ultra-conservative State Sen. Jim Jordan (R-Urbana) in the exceedingly red 4th Congressional District, with independents favoring Siferd by more than 2 to 1. This is absolutely stunning news from a district that by all accounts appeared to be one of the very safest for the Republican party.
OMG. LOL.
Go Rick !
I think

A small measure of credit to Ben Konop

Ben ran for the House in this district in 2004 and despite having ZERO money to spend, ran a vigorous campaign, which utlimately led to "Country Club" Mike Oxley's early retirment. Ben actually carried Allen county and was the ony challenger from either party to get more than forty percent of the vote in their district.(41.4 %)
I was talking about this a year ago

and thought it was ripe for the picking.

But not only did the national party write this district off, so did the Ohio Democratic Party. I can't believe this district wasn't included along with the 18th and 2nd as a possible pick-up if we concentrated on it.
I was laughed at for this (including giggles by the editor of the Mansfield newspaper -- an old, old friend).
We should have gotten this one, but at 8 points with only 3 days, and nobody targeting it until now, I think it's too late, dammit.
Oh, and someone tell Ben Konop to grow a mustache or something so he looks older than 22.
