OH-2: Jean Schmidt Keeps Her Fantasy Alive
I was away yesterday when this came out, but this is just way too rich to pass up.
Jean Schmidt, professional liar, has responded to requests for an apology over her recent untrue statements she made on the floor of the House.
In a letter (PDF) Schmidt rails at her opponents, saying that they have a “loose relationship with the truth” (oh, the irony).
Schmidt also mentions the names of several Democrats who have allegedly said the same thing she said. Thankfully those statements aren't too hard to find.
-- Rep. Mike Ross, D-Ark., said: "Cuba has hired China to drill."
-- Sen. Byron Dorgan, D-N.D., said: "We ought to be producing off Cuba as well where China is now allowed to drill and produce."
-- House Ways and Means Chairman Charlie Rangel, D-N.Y., said that Cuba has a "new and profitable relationship involving crude oil drilling operations off the Cuban coast with China in conjunction with India, Norway and Spain."
It's worth pointing out that not a single mention of the Chinese drilling off the coast of Florida appears in those statements.
Face it Jean, you’re wrong. Suck it up and quit trying to blame everyone else for your stupidity.
Anyways, read the letter. It's worth it.
Update: Apparently Jean didn't get the memo. It seems that the Republicans are abandoning the whole China drilling talking point.
"We're not using the China talking point anymore, but we will continue to point out that it is absurd that Cuba is developing its deep-water energy resources while Democrats are blocking America from doing the same."
--Michael Steel, spokesman for House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio)
