OH-2: Crouching Tiger, Hidden Chandra

David Potts - Posted on 30 April 2010

Subodh Chandra has always seemed like an OK guy to me. I don’t know him personally all that well, but his thoughts and words have often impressed me. So when someone forwarded me a printout of a Facebook thread (now apparently removed) between Chandra and David Krikorian, I sat up and took notice.

In this thread, embedded below, Subodh slams Krikorian over, among other things, his repeated evasive denials about whether or not he tried to make Surya Yalamanchili’s name a campaign issue.

Read it for yourself, the thread starts on page 2.

Chandra-Krikorian Facebook Dialogue

As I’ve mentioned, much of Subodh’s response in no longer online, though Subodh makes it clear that he wasn’t the one that pulled it down.

Funny how you keep deleting my responses. Perhaps they are too persuasive for you to tolerate them. Is this how you plan on governing--censorship?

In an unrelated note, Sudodh also mentions and would seem to confirm reports that Jennifer Garrison did in fact refuse to endorse him over his ethnicity.

That you did this, sir, is actually not "shocking." It is a natural human thing to do to try to advance yourself. It may have seemed innocent and "real politik" enough at the time. After all, I'm sure you thought, aren't you just describing reality--the world as it is, not as you want it to be? I'm sure that State Rep. Jennifer Garrison, celebrated by the State Party for a time and still serving as Ohio Majority Leader, thought exactly the same thing when she looked me from head to toe like I was a turd (after I asked her for her endorsement) and said, "No one where I'm from would ever vote for someone who looks like YOU" and then turned on her heel and walked away. I'm sure Marc Dann thought the same thing as he made the point in his private meetings, trying to persuade others.

For the record, I’m from Garrison’s district and I’d be proud to vote for Subodh Chandra in any future run he’d make.
