OH-15: Stivers Supporters Trying To Throw Out Provisional Ballots

David Potts - Posted on 13 November 2008

The Dispatch is pointing out that Republicans are still trying to take Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner to court. This time a couple of Steve Stivers supporters are trying to get 3%-4% of provisional ballots thrown out purely on a technicality.

When someone votes provisionally they're supposed to sign and print their name on the ballot envelope, but some people forgot to print their name. Brunner has (apparently) directed that ballots that are signed but not printed should be counted if the person can be identified.

Stivers' people obviously want these ballots thrown out, because there are enough provisional ballots to change the outcome of this race into Mary Jo Kilroy's favor.

So will the same people that demanded that the John McCain's absentee ballot forms be accepted when they weren't properly filled out change their tune now?

I know more about the Alaska and MN Senate counts than OH-15. Is anyone covering the details on this???????
You're hearing about AK and MN because those are statewide races and their still trying to get the initial numbers. In OH-15 we're waiting on provisional and absentee ballots that couldn't be unsealed until 10 days after the election.
There are enough uncounted absentees alone to put Kilroy over the top, assuming that they break as the absentees have so far generally. Provisionals would be icing on the cake. I really have to wonder what the Republican strategy is with the ineffectual lawsuits, "voter fraud" stories and the like--certainly it doesn't seem like even the public is buying it, never mind the courts.
