OH-03: Mitakides Campaign Goes Carbon Neutral

Many politicians use Earth Day for their own purposes, focusing on environmental issues for one day a year. However, global warming doesn’t take a vacation for the other 364 days a year - and neither can we.

That’s why Jane Mitakides has decided to walk the talk of green solutions by making her campaign carbon neutral, and committing to work for renewable energy and green jobs when elected to Congress.

By underwriting carbon offsets from CarbonFund.org, an organization that helps individuals, businesses, and organizations to eliminate their carbon footprints, the Mitakides campaign becomes the first one of the first congressional campaigns in the nation (and the first in Ohio) to take responsibility for their own greenhouse gas emissions.

Jane sees investing in renewable energy as the first step in a process that will create jobs and protect the environment. The fossil fuels that cause climate change and keep us beholden to foreign dictatorships can no longer be at the foundation of our economy.

Creating tax incentives for clean energy sources will allow these industries to flourish, and instead of supporting unnecessary tax subsidies for Big Oil, she will work to pass such incentives when in Congress.

Greening our economy is a no-brainer: between fighting global warming, creating green jobs, and saving consumers across the board, this should be a priority in Congress.

Jane Mitakides intends to be a leader in Congress, and that starts now by having a campaign that takes responsibility and utilizes real solutions for our challenges.

I believe that Jane Mitakides is exactly what Southwest Ohio needs right now. Her opponet Mike Turner has shown to be quite careless in his actions not looking out for veterans and others who make our country so great. I just know that she  is going to win this Fall.
I believe Jane too...and I believe you--she is going to win this fall! I know I post a ton about Jane, but I just can't emphasize enough how amazingly dedicated this woman is to our country. The Global Warming problem in our country is only going to get worse; sadly, our children and our grandchildren will most likely be the generations to inherit the mess we created. No matter what we do, future generations have a huge task ahead of them, in so far as the environment is concerned, but we can help to mitigate this by taking small steps RIGHT NOW. The first congressional campaign in Ohio to be Carbon Neutral?! That's exactly what I mean when I say we can, and must, take small steps now--GO JANE!!!
I know this isnt particulary applicable to this discussion, but I just wanted to let those of you who are apparently following Jane's candidacy know that her fundraiser last Thursday was pretty awesome. It was a lot of fun, and I hope Jane raised a lot of money. She needs to take this republican seat. I am not sure how many people were there, but the place was pretty happening. Hopefully it got Jane's name out to the public.
