OH-02: Add Steve Black to the List

Administrator - Posted on 16 May 2007

(I've revised this post today after I got an email from Mary later finishing our email exchange from last night that I commented on previously. Looks like the campaign was just moving a little slow, not purposefully stonewalling. I'm giving them another chance and I'm excited to see what they've got)

Breaking News this afternoon. Former Indian Hills Mayor and lawyer extraordinaire Steve Black is set to announce his bid in the Democratic Primary for Congress in the 2nd tomorrow. First, a little bit about Steve...

He's a '74 Harvard Law Grad and Partner at Graydon Head & Ritchey LLP in downtown Cinci. Steve also served as the board president of Seven Hills schools. Additionally, he's got a whole litany of activities listed on his firm biography that make him sound like a kind of a big deal:

Global Center of Greater Cincinnati, Board Chair
Taft Museum of Art, Trustee
Children's Home of Cincinnati, Inc., Board of Trustees; Past Board President
Cincinnati Bar Association, Probate and Estate Planning Committee
Cincinnati Law Library Association, Trustee and Vice-President
Ohio State Bar Association, Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Sections
Harvard Alumni Association, Regional Director, 1989-1992
Harvard Club of Cincinnati, President, 1988-1989
Leadership Cincinnati Class XXV, Steering Committee, 2002-2005
Seven Hills School Trustee, 1992-2001; President, 1995-2000
Village of Indian Hill, Ohio Councilman, 1989-1999; Mayor, 1995-1999
American Lung Association of Southwest Ohio, Former Trustee
Summerbridge Cincinnati, Inc., Former Trustee
Cincinnati Nature Center, Trustee, 1989-1995

Yesterday I got word about Steve's looming candidacy so I researched his phone number and gave him a call. While Steve wasn't home, his pleasant wife was and she took a message with my contact information. Hours later I get an email from Mary Huttlinger, Victoria Wulsin's old campaign manager who is apparently now working for Steve (what's up with that!?!).

We'll see what Steve has for us tomorrow when he announces.
