OH-18: "There's No One Who Benefits More From Internet Access Than the Rural Poor"
Apparently, State Sen. Bob “Go-Along” Gibbs has never thought about that before, and never saw the “Stirred” episode in Season 3 of The West Wing when the Vice President, who is from Texas, a state that has lots of poor rural residents despite the glitz and glimmer of its big cities, utters that very phrase in the Oval Office in defense of one of his signature initiatives: bringing Internet access to the rural poor.
I bring it up because while U.S. Rep Zack Space was able to bring home some federal funds to provide Internet access to the rural poor not of Texas, but of Appalachian Ohio, State Sen. Bob Gibbs accused him of reckless spending and trying to buy votes.
Bob, you obviously have no idea what you’re talking about. It’s about creating jobs. It’s about lifting people out of poverty. It’s about empowering people who need it the most. Three things you obviously don’t know the first damn thing about.
