Obama Orgainizing Meeting - Wow.

Just got back from the Obama organizing meeting in Columbus at Plumbers and Pipefitters. Very impressive turnout of maybe 400+ people. For an organizing meeting (which is usually boring affair), people were pretty pumped-up. Some effective rah-rah from Rep. Ted Celeste and others, then nitty-gritty details from the organizers.

I wish I had gotten a picture of the number of people who raised their hands when asked if this was their first presidential campaign - it must've been at least 3/4 of everyone there. I think that's great, but it does mean that direction and leadership is going to be even more important. Having seen the Kerry campaign from the inside, there are a lot of mistakes that can be avoided.

At the meeting we learned that Michelle Obama will be at Ohio State this Friday, February 15th at 12:30pm. They don't have a location yet - keep an eye on the calendar.

All in all, quite an evening.

Your turnout and our own crazy turnout in the Republican enclave of Cincinnati is proof that we've all been chomping at the bit to get into this thing. It's really pretty mindblowing. I've never seen turnout at a first volunteers' meeting half that size for a general election, even. tavernwench.blogspot.com
