FEC to Candidate: You're Out of Compliance
Today, Thor Jacobs called on Victoria Wells Wulsin, a Democratic candidate for the Second Congressional District, to release her records immediately as required by federal law.
Victoria Wells Wulsin of Indian Hill is now clearly in violation of at least two Federal Elections Commission laws designed to ensure transparency in Congressional elections. She has now received communications from the FEC about her repeated failures to meet the legal standards required of all candidates.
The Federal Elections Commission has communicated with Wulsin outlining that her reports are outstanding and that she is in violation of the law.
No Filing for this Period
No filing has been received by the FEC to this date, (April 27, 2006) but the records and the ample evidence of vast expenditures do exist in the forms of staff and repeated mailings that prove the existence of such.
These deadlines exist for a reason—to ensure fair and open elections. Simply asking the voters to trust you with their vote while refusing to obey the law flies in the face of our democratic safeguards.
Out of State MoneyPrevious reports indicate that in 2005, Wulsin's campaign received 58% of their contributions from out-of-state. Most of the contributions came from Massachusetts, New York, Connecticut, and California.
Of her contributions from Ohioans, over 60% came from her own family.
All other candidates are in compliance with Federal Law reporting laws.
Although we have come to expect this sort of deliberate deception and evasion from Republicans Jean Schmidt and Bob McEwen, we expect more of our Democratic candidates.

Additional Federal Campaign Violations:
All of Victoria Wells-Wulsin's campaign materials from this 2006 election season have been in violation of FEC guidelines because of their failure to follow directions regarding disclaimers on printed materials.
Federal law clearly states: "On printed materials, the disclaimer notice must appear within a printed box set apart from the other contents in the communication."
11 CFR 110.11(c)(2)(i), (ii), and (iii)
This law was not followed by the Wulsin campaign either, exhibiting another clear violation of election standards.
