Dayton Daily News: Jacobs Can Win in a General!

Alan Harvard - Posted on 24 April 2006

In OH-02, it's Endorsements Gone Wild!

(EGW:  HA, that would be a kick-ass video . . . Sinnard showing off his stones . . . Parker trying to get girls to do things for beans . . . Thor trying to convice chicks he is on the West Wing . . . and Vic and Gabby in the Hot Body Contest.)

Endorsement Update:

Sinnard:  Cinci Right to Life

Wulsin:  Cinci Enquirer, Tyrone Yates*, Catherine Barrett*, Priscilla O'Donnell*, Cecil Thomas*, David Crowley*, Laketa Cole*, Nathaniel Jones*.

We have to put an astrisks (*) beside many of Vics endorsements, cause she has a tendancy to suggest endorsements she has not recieved.

Thor Jacobs:  Dayton Daily News, John Cranley, Cecil Thomas.

Here are some highlights from today's Dayton Daily News Endorsement:

HEADLINE:  Our view: Jacobs best bet in crowded field

Of them (the five people who are seeking the Democratic nomination), the person in the best position to take advantage if Democrats have a shot in the fall is Thor Jacobs . . . He seems to have the most sophisticated campaign operation and has made the most progress in winning endorsements from people known in the district. He can articulate a mainstream Democratic philosophy. . . Democrats need to put their best vote-getter forward  . . . Mr. Jacobs seems to have the best start on making the fall race.

. . . Jeff Sinnard and Jim Parker, believe the best chance for Democrats in this district lies in moving to the right on issues such as religion, abortion and guns.

Dr. Victoria Wells  . . . might need a more compatible district.

Public-school teacher Gaby Downey has been credited by her opponents with making a good public presentation of the issues.

*****UPDATE:  Just got this from Jacobs For Congress Campaign:

Labor steps up to offer support for Jacobs:

The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 212; the Plumbers, Pipe Fitters & Mechanical Equipment Service Local 392; and the Roofers Local 42, all of Hamilton County, have all also enthusiastically endorsed Thor Jacobs in the 2nd Congressional District Democratic primary. In additional, Boilermakers Local 105 of Piketon, Ohio in Pike County located at the far Eastern end of the district is lending Jacobs its support.

"Thor understands the real issues working families face today," said William Koester who is Business Manager of Plumbers, Pipe Fitters & Mechanical Equipment Service Local Union 392.  "We need an independent, intelligent Congressman like him in Washington, fighting to protect us, not the profits of CEO's."

Jacobs is the only candidate that has received any labor endorsement in this race for Congress.

. . . endorsements don't mean squat.  It's a matter of who gets the most people off their sofa on election day.
Whoever was running Paul Hackett's campaign was a fool for wasting so much time on getting endorsements from the local county parties, and media like the Enquirer. Lord knows why they spent time and money placing the info on their website when they could have been knocking doors like Jim Parker. Amateurs.

. . . maybe THAT is why Hackett lost.

knocking on doors is important.

(note to ohio campaigns:  it only works if you hire re:organize to manage your field program.)

I personally have no idea how to win elections. All I know is if you're a candidate do everything you can to not have me support you, cause if you do you'll loose.

editor (hearts) thor!

or is Bryan still getting too high on blow to realize that Ohio elections ARE rigged.  No he'd rather manipulate and take advantage of grassroots volunteer's valuable time so he can rake in a bunch of money JUST for himself.

Bryan misleads volunteers with meaningless poll results to get them pumped-up to work, work, work.  But when push comes to shove, Bryan abandons good purposed grassroots people after his "field work" actually proves to be ineffective and results in worthless losing efforts.

Yep, that's the kind of outfit I'd hire ... one that claims to be great but loses election after election.  All hail Bryan, the new king of a continuous line of Ohio Democratic Party 15-year losers

Oh, I forgot ... Bryan doesn't work directly for the ODP ... but Bryan sure as hell acts just as arrogant as the ODP's spineless (election losing) so-called professionals.

listen here you pathetic fuck.  i don't know you.  you don't know me.  you don't have a goddamn clue what i do or what results my teams have achieved.  so kindly shut the fuck up.

so kindly shut the fuck up
This is even better than the 6th dist. candidates smack down....

Bryan Clark

vs.

Dave Hickman

i think i just made wee-wee laughing so hard.
The pic you posted of Dave is pretty wild and yes Dave is a VERY wild guy, but he gets more things done than most people.  I've known him for three years from Meetups and I personally know that he abhors anyone who reeks of establishment Democrat likeness.  I didn't realize he became a SMACK DOWN wrestler. This fits him pretty well.  It seems like a good career move for Dave.
you and your random way out of right field attacks on the good work that Bryan does and door knocking in general makes you "too high on blow" than I'd like to be considered "stoned out of my gourd." You sir, are truely a delight.

I don't know what you kids' deal is . . . but I know Bryan, and I can assure you that the work he does is top-notch, and any campaign that hires him or re:organize has invested in an asset.

I am particurally impressed by Bryan's ability to balance "the grassroots movement" and "politics as usual" with re:organize.  His ability to overlay specific information into a useable and beneficial coordinated program is the best I have seen.

The sooner Ohio democrats 'see the light' and fully invest in a quality field program early in their campaigns, the sooner we will end the 15-yr Demo-drought.

Jeff Sinnard and Jim Parker, believe the best chance for Democrats in this district lies in moving to the right on issues such as religion, abortion and guns.

I love that Thor was endorsed, but what is this supposed to mean? You can't move to the right on "religion"! Was the Daily News missing a third point to make a 27-9-3 Statement?

97X .  . . BAM

97X .  . . BAM
 . . .what is a 27-9-3 statement?

It stands for 27 words, 9 seconds and three prongs. It's jargon my boss uses to say that most quotes follow this format in order to best convey their idea to a group of people.

It could just be something my boss says in order to convey an image of mental superiority over others. I personally do not know if other people use this.

I.E. Jeff Sinnard received the Cincinnati "Right to Life" endorsement last month because he is pro-life, he lives in Anderson Township, and he is an Elder grad.

Note: This is in no way an insult to Mr. Sinnard. . .  except for the Elder part.

97X .  . . BAM

97X .  . . BAM

I had no idea . . . but that makes perfect sense.

"I never heard a good idea I didn't steal" - Alan Harvard

hey, did ya see those fancy survey usa numbers?  wulsin's favorable rating was only 4% -- but she got 27% of the vote in special election dem primary.  hmm...

Looking at that Survey USA Poll . . . Jim Parker has the best Name ID . . . he has the lowest 'Unfamiliar' % of any Dem!

Thor has the highest 'Favorable' and lowest 'Unfavorable' . . .  thor

. . . Vic comes in 2nd in 'Favorable', and highest in 'Unfavorable' . . .

vic

Thor and Vic are tied in the 'unfamiliar' catagoy.

Also says only 2% of people don't know who Mean Jean is . . . she certainly does ONE THING WELL:  POLARIZE PEOPLE!

joke

Love her or hate her, you know who she is . . . Kinda like OJ I guess . . .

oj

oops . . . I mean O.J. . . .

oj

guess people like beans more than stones (even five smooth ones).
Everyone has equally lame traction in the district.

evil editor, you're getting very sleepy.  thor is a great candidate.  he will win the primary and the general.

*snap*

Technocolor us into voting for Thor? Maybe Dave Hickman was right... Just don't mess up the rotation, alright?

taking hickman's side?!  that just hurts.

sorry, just to easy.

By the way, I think everyone here handled that all rather well.

Nope ... Bryan didn't handle it good ... he was completely unjustified to insult the largest and most effective election reform and election protection group in the state of Ohio. Until we meet again Bryan, simply understand that we remember things for a LONG time.

-SMACK-

just for the record (sweet jesus...), i never attacked real election protection activists -- or any organization.  i did, ahem, express my personal opinion about bob fitrakis.  that's the problem w/ some activists -- they can't see where they end and the organization/cause begins.  don't conflate the two, hickman.

oh, snap! (crackle and pop)

Who the hell are you ???

The king of election losing field work and a highly paid blowhard who exploits generous grassroots volunteers.

All hail Bryan ... the scumbag patronage profiteer

to make a snarky comment on a blog... some troll has to come and mess it all up again.

at least he used alliteration in his pseudo-chomskian comeback.

good times.  (and apparently high times for others...)

With all those unfamiliar numbers, even for Schmidt and McEwen, I hope for my districts' sake they purposely asked the 600 dumbest people in Clermont County.

97X .  . . BAM

97X .  . . BAM

 . . . want . . . to . . . comment . . . hurts . . . not  . . . to.

Alan Harvard, hit us with a zinger!

and step it up if he's gonna play.

until Thor unvails AC/DC's Thunderstruck as his campaign theme song?

THAT would kick ass!!

(Aaah-ha-ha-ha thunder! Aaah-ha-ha-ha thunder!)
(Aaah-ha-ha-ha) Thunder!
Thunder! Thunder! Thunder!

I was caught .... in the middle of the railroad tracks (Thunder)
I looked 'round... and I knew there was no turnin' back! (Thunder!)
My mind raced... and I thought 'What can I do?' (Thunder!)
And I knew... there was no help, no help from you! (Thunder!)

Now that song's going to be struck in my head.

Oops, I mean stuck in my head.

(okay, that was really bad, I just couldn't resist)

That's an awesome picture, but he probably should have cropped out the Confederate flag in the background.

97X .  . . BAM

97X .  . . BAM
but noticed the unibomber the right.  oh well, it was a gun show...

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaoooooooowwwww

The Confederate Flag should never be overlooked.  It's a symbol of racism, repression and murder.
