A blizzard of stories served on silver platter!! Breaking!

Yesterday was one of those days MSM journalists call a "busy news day"....er...I mean...one of those days where a constant stream of stuff was spoon fed into newsrooms via press release, federally mandated reporting, and stuff that's been on the calender for months.

In the "hitting refresh on my FEC website for the report" category, we have Mike DeWine outraising Sherrod Brown in the last quarter.  Big stuff there, I'm sure we are all shocked.  Ooops...wait a minute....my bad.  They scooped the federally mandated reporting deadline by a couple days.  Nice work fellas!  Way to chase down that news that wasn't going to happen anyway!

In the "nothing makes an afternoon at the paper go more smoothly than taking a press release already written for me and making a news story out of it" category, we have the ever popoular but utterly meaningless Candidate Report Card story, which some non-profit dutifully compiled for said spoon-feeding-awaiting reporter, which requires only that said newspaper split it up into many pages the easier to sell advertising amongst

And then, of course, we have the City Club debate between Subodh & Dann, which apparently was all about attacks and nastiness, because, well, it was hard work reporting on something that's been scheduled for months, something had to be done to spice it up, and after all, it's only the AG race anyway, who really cares, and besides, no one wrote a press release for me to copy and paste.

Busy news day.

From the Debate Article

Dann touted his legislative experience, saying he co-sponsored or was the lead sponsor on 40 bills signed into law "that deal with giving law enforcement the tools they need to do their jobs." Those bills include the so-called Ohio Patriot Act, passed last year.

Oh brother... the Ohio Patriot Act... what a useless load of crap. Just what I need, an AG that brags about taking away my civil liberties. I just love it when Dems try to out totalitarian Republicans. Look an me! I hate the Constitution just as much as they do. Take it to Uzbekistan.
The debate turned contentious after Chandra claimed that Dann would have failed the FBI background check that Chandra passed.

"I say this with regret because as a Democrat, I don't like to say anything ill of a fellow Democrat, but we'd better have an honest conversation right now," Chandra said. "My primary opponent could not become an entry federal-level attorney with a Supreme Court reprimand [and] with a case in which somebody went to jail for four months for a nonexistent crime."

Dann acknowledged making an error in a spousal support case, for which he received a reprimand in 2004, but he angrily disputed Chandra's characterization of a case in which Bedford resident Keith Phillips served four months in jail for importuning after Ohio's importuning law was repealed.

Dann pointed out that two courts have dismissed him as a defendant, and he chastised Chandra for being sanctimonious.

"I'm proud of the work I've done," Dann said. "I'm proud of the fact that I've made mistakes and made them right, which is more important. Betty Montgomery made some mistakes and blamed the copying machine.

"Subodh, you're naive if you think they're not going to attack you, whether they have to make it up. There's certainly plenty in the background information that you've released that they can write attack commercials about.

"Let's talk about the issues. Let's talk about the office. Let's stop the personal attacks."
It's not a personal attack when talking about your record for the job you are trying to get elected for. Does Dann really think that he can just whine himself into office? Dann has never had a good or consistent explanation as to what happened with Keith Phillips. I don't see Dann returning Phillips' money. He should justify what happened to him.

What a stupid remark

to say that they're going to attack Subdoh "even if they have to make it up." They DO have to "make it up," and sure, they will ,but they fact that they have to "make it up" makes the attacks weaker and easier to rebut. Where's the background information that Subodh has released that is ACTUALLY attackable, not just distortable (and Republicans can distort anything). And frankly, if I were supporting Dann, his touting his support of the Ohio Patriot Act would have just lost him my support.

Yep.

No fan of any "Patriot" Act here.
