Below is from Zack Space's Website,www.zackspace.org. Zack Space, candidate for Congress in Ohio's 18th District, says his campaign's focus on hometown values is paying off in grassroots support and key endorsements. In addition to receiving the endorsement of six Democratic Party county chairs and the Tuscarawas County Democratic party, the largest county in the 18th district, Space is now backed by the Tuscarawas County Young Democrats, Guernsey County Democratic Women, three labor organizations, four additional Democratic Party leaders, and 34 elected officials from the district. "I'm honored that so many Democrats have vested their support in me to bring hometown values back to the district," Space said. "We have a tremendous amount of support from right here in the district. Local Democrats are getting behind this campaign in a big way." "The good news is that despite the plant closings and the schools that can barely afford to operate, the people joining our campaign believe, as I do, that we cannot give up hope. We share a faith that there is a possibility for change where there is compassionate belief in our right to adequate healthcare, economic security, educational opportunity, and a government free of corruption." Space is receiving strong support from working families as the Tuscarawas, Belmont, and Muskingum County AFL-CIO Central Labor Councils all have filed letters of support with the Ohio AFL-CIO. Endorsements from elected officials include State Representative Allan Sayre (D-Dover), 16 county elected officials and 17 village, municipal, and township elected officials. State Representative Allan Sayre, one of the first elected officials to endorse Space, said: "I am not surprised to learn of the increasing endorsements because I have seen the growing enthusiasm for Zack's campaign in the counties I represent. Zack Space is not just asking that we replace our current U.S. Congressman; he calls for complete reforms in the way Congress operates. He stands alone as the only candidate to pledge to accept absolutely nothing from any lobbyist." Space's campaign previously announced the support of six Democratic County Chairpersons from Athens, Carroll, Harrison, Hocking, Morgan, and Tuscarawas. Space is a graduate of Kenyon College and The Ohio State University College of Law. In addition to being Dover's Law Director, he also practices law with his father, Socrates. Zack and his wife, Judge Mary Wade Space, have two children, Gina and Nicholas.
it's gonna come down to money in such a large district where neither have great name ID throughout. My only concern about space is that he is a little too liberal for the 18th and sulzers more conservative manner might play better to get cross over voters and leaners. space probably has the edge in the primary i think, but boy it's going to be close. I like both guys but leaning towards Sulzer on the basis of electability.
This may be because I've been out in Hackettland, but what is the Sulzer "baggage" I keep hearing about from the Space camp? Rollcall had something on it -- called Sulzer a talking timebomb because of personal and political baggage. Really just curious!
He is a Catholic, so instead of getting a divorce from his first wife he got an annulment which took 3 years to process, in that time he met the woman who is now his second wife and they had a kid. That's it. He basically had a kid with another woman, whom he later married while still married to his first wife, because the annulment took so long. That's my understanding.
That's it.

just wanted to find out. i hate it when journalists make veiled references to controversy, but forget to fill in the reader. i can see this being a minor issue -- by no means a ticking timebomb.
You are making reference to an article published in "Roll Call" by Stuart Rothenberg, a well respected D.C. journalist.

... on how you define Space Camp. Look over on dkos for diaries & comments by comalog & zachc. Almost all of the postings using those userids are very pro-Space. Most are either slamming Ney or boosting Space without mentioning Sulzer, but some repeat exactly the same vague stuff that was in the Rothenburg article ... only before the Rothenburg article was published. When pressed about his/her association with the Space campaign, comalog either does not respond or gives vague or evasive replies. (The same may be true for zachc, but I don't recall for sure.) I strongly suspect comalog is either actually paid by the Space campaign or works as a well-connected volunteer. So I would say that it's somewhat misleading to say 'Not from the Space Camp'. Now, I also note that someone by your name posts on the Space website 'blog' ... so does someone named Zach Cummings. (And so do some other people, for that matter.) Are you associated with the Space campaign? If so, in what capacity? It's good to be open about these things, you know.

He noted that some of his supporters might be going over the line and he would look into it and put a stop to it - he indicated he knew who was doing it. If you see such activity on the blogs let me know and we can kick it up a notch given Zack's assurances to me that it would stop. And if it is coming from folks in the campaign - they ought to consider this a cease and desist notice.
Depends on what you are hoping to accomplish, but I value the thoughts of a barber inside the district more than a DC Journalist.
Kos had this to say about Stuart Rothenberg........
It's not that political prognosticators (like Stuart Rothenberg, Chuck
Todd, Larry Sabato and the like) have infallible crystal balls, but
they do have the resources to do their homework and aren't entirely
full of it. All three predicted GOP gains the last two years and their
record on individual races wasn't bad. But more important than that,
these guys shape the DC conventional wisdom, which then affects things
like candidate recruitment and fundraising.

Of course I am sure you will come back and claim that you know more
about politics than Kos.
kos is something like 0-25 in his predictions. My dog knows more.

Go campaign and stop blogging.
it's sad that a post that started with a list of two candidates and their endorsements turned into this crap. you have got to be kidding me. i was just reading cook political report and they listed this campaign as a possible democrat pick up because bob ney is maybe going to be indicted. i have not followed this race at all until recently so i found out there are 4 democrats and running and looks like there are two key candidates. all i have read is complete insane posts attacking zack space at every blog site on the internet. and every time i read a blog saying that zack space is attacking the joe sulzer the blogger is the one saying the bad stuff about joe sulzer. now that is just hilarious. i am wondering about what was just said by this site's staff. am i reading this wrong or are you saying that the candidate joe sulzer had a baby with another woman before he divorced his wife? i dont know what is in the drinking water over there in ohio but that is a pretty freaking big deal. is this what you are saying??? finally, for the blogger Alan Harvard. what is wrong with someone that works with a campaign defending their candidate on this blog? why are you so offended. i am sure you have a job. why not just do your blog and not blog? that was just a silly comment. i think the people that run this site should be happy that it has caught the attention of people who work on the campaigns. they are taking this site as a serious form of media.
all you have to do is know the campaign staff to know sulzer is going to win. space and his campaign staff are all connected to redfern and odp. micahel clarke is part of the useless ohio young dems group that has run the organization into the ground and i heard is also working for marc dann so that shows you how far space is going to go. sulzers is going to win this because he has smarter stuff that know what they are doing.

This post is also completely ridiculous....such sour grapes over ODP Chairman race, endorsement process...cry babies need to get a tissue
