Larkin - End of discussion

Tim Russo - Posted on 21 March 2006

Lovely email response from Brent.
There were eight editors from this newspaper in the room. Each and every one of them came to the same conclusion about Strickland's present position on casino gambling - period, end of discussion.
My email in response.
brent, with all due respect, i'm not sure it's a room full of editors' jobs to fabricate what a candidate for governor's position is on an issue based on your collective conclusions.  he did not say what you say he said, neither in the quote you printed, nor in what he said to us on MTB the day before.  if he did, you should quote that which brings you to this conclusion.  if not, then you should correct the post, or alternatively, make it clear that you are making an editorial comment with your headline.
Period.

to say they "came to the same conclusion" that is different from what is on record, without sharing quotes from the candidate to back themselves up. This is one of the reasons the PD has lost so much respect and so many subscribers. Not only is it not the "end of discussion" (another completely arrogant constructy), it is the very beginning.
Let's work together to retire Ken Blackwell from politics

"we got together and decided what Ted's position shold be for him, so later on we can attack him for being inconsistent, while simulataneously supporting a GOP opponent for taking a firm position".

What bullshit.

and see what he thinks.
not gonna tell you what he thinks because he hasn't had time to poll it yet. least he's not asking Jesus for the answer.

Any response from the Congressman yet?  Does he even feel like taking time out of his busy schedule discussing issues relevant to honest, hard-working Ohioans to respond to this made-up controversy?

I don't say it often, but . . . Larkin's right.  This discussion is over.

...getting ready for the next MTB.
He's not busy getting ready for the next MTB. In fact, he's busy meeting with legitimate reporters of the news, aka journalists, to share information. In this case, Ted is sharing a not-so-developed plank of his platform, and a reporter is reporting an actual fact. (!)

What's overlooked is that Larkin is giving us a preview of what is to come: Strickland is going to share space with moderate republicans. He's going to court the RINO vote, beat Blackwell and be the next governor.

Back on topic: Larkin is right, Russo is wrong.

Now, let's focus on matters of true importance: should we be smoking whilst eating fried oreos, or not. C'mon people, I want your thoughts! Jill, do you have anything to say, assert or declare?

the comments you made on this BFD post?  In pertinent part, you wrote:

George,

I was a voyeur – just a watcher. Now, you’ve unleashed me, like an unwanted third in a manage a trois.

I do have some ideas.

First, don’t let Jill post anymore. I’m new around here, so I don’t know anything about Jill other than her posts aren’t worth reading. And, I dislike RMC2000 for encouraging her.

Castro!!!!   Your baseball team lost in the World Baseball Classic finals, and now called out by Jill!!!

How does it feel?
