Joy Padgett - dead beat
From the Zanesville Times Recorder, Nov 15th 2005
COSHOCTON -- State Sen. Joy Padgett and her husband, Don, have filed to reorganize their Coshocton business under federal bankruptcy laws in hopes of surviving in a sluggish economy. The couple own Main Office Supply Co. on Main Street and are hoping that by filing for a Chapter 11 reorganization, the company can settle its debts and emerge with a bright future.
According to papers filed in U.S. Bankruptcy Court, the company has $531,000 in assets and $1,151,446 in total debts.
Joy Padgett, a Republican, won the Senate seat in 2004 and her term expires in December 2008. She was also a former state representative and the former executive director of Gov. Bob Taft's Office of Appalachia.

"With the economy the way it is right now and companies moving out of the area, or merging, or going out of business, we've seen our business hurt by that," company president Don Padgett said Tuesday. "While I've been in the process of reorganizing the store from the beginning, the business world is constantly changing and nothing stays the same for long."
Then, just this June 15th
Tuesday night they were informed Don's business and personal bank accounts had been seized and on Wednesday afternoon a representative from JP Morgan Chase Bank, formerly known as Bank One, walked through the front door on Main Street and took over the business.

The couple knew they were in trouble with the business about six years ago, Sen. Padgett said. But, they hoped and hoped the economy would turn around and they would be able to make the business what it once was."But, the economy just wouldn't let us," Sen. Padgett (R-Coshocton) said. "We believed the bank believed in us because it kept lending us money and they don't do that if they don't believe. But, the economy just never turned around."
Screwed the SBA out of tens of thousands of dollars.
Maybe if she had spent more time running her business properly and not smearing Terry Anderson this despicable person might not have lost tax payers money, and lord help us if she doesnt sit on the finance committee.
How can she even talk about 6 years of a crappy economy, be in positions to do something about it, a member of a party who control everything and still think she is qualified to run for higher office ?
Hubris.
Let it not be a secret I despise this woman and what she stands for. Scumbag doesn't do justice to scum or bags. Gonna enjoy watching this piece of filth crash and burn.
heh
WHAT????
I just realized
Hey kids, can you pick out
Hey kids, can you pick out the BS Republican excuse that was actually uttered?
Gov. Bob Taft: "Miss Manners told me it would be impolite to reject such generous gifts."
ORP Chair Bob Bennett: "We didn't know he would say TED STRICKLAND IS GAY!!!!!!! We don't approve of e-mails saying that TED STRICKLAND HAS SEX WITH MEN!!!!!!! Once more, we never meant to create the impression that TED STRICKLAND IS A FLAMING LIBERAL HOMO FRENCHMAN!!!!!!!"
U.S. Rep. Bob Ney: "Taft told me Miss Manners said it was OK."
State Sen. Joy Padgett: "The economy just never turned around."
Sen. George Allen: "I thought "macaca" was Indian for "well-dressed videographer in the employ of the opposition party."
Priceless.
I'd have more sympathy if she said, "The business would have really taken off, except that I'd been embezzling all this time."
Plain Dealer reported 48% all small business men
The Plain Dealer reported that 48% of all small business men  have maxed out their personal credit cards trying to stay afloat.
I do not know much about Joy Padgett yet but it seems she has done the walk before she talks. The issue of bankruptcy should be an issue but in a different setting compared to the past. Today it may be a good reason for voting for someone who stood boldly in the private sector trying to make it work.
A company that sells mailing lists, now includes a list of 12 million people who have gone bankrupt. This indicates that there are thousands of Joy Padgett in the world now who fought the good fight.
We should now judge these people accordingly. It is a major issue of our times. Many of these people should be called heroes in a new Pearl Harbor attack on workers and small businesses.

It must always be noted that it was a Democrat President (Clinton) and a Democrat controlled Congress that passed both NAFTA and GATT. After getting NAFTA passed, President Clinton had to rush billions of dollars to Mexico to save the peso.  This is the real story of Free Trade failures.

hoped and hoped
maybe there's not so much difference b/n us and Padgett after all.
