A chance encounter - Betty Sutton

Wakeup Walmart wasn't the only chance encounter I have had recently. I also ran into Betty Sutton last week.

I'd been pretty tough on her primary campaign, moreso the tactics of emily's list than the candidate herself, so meeting her gave me an opportunity to calibrate what I thought of her.

I've been around a lot of candidates and elected officials in my time, from the remarkable, to the utterly forgettable looking to pad their resume's as they head back onto the corporate world.

Betty Sutton struck me as the real deal. Until you see how she votes in difficult situations, it's hard to truly gauge her ideology, but it isn't hard to discern she is tough. Real tough. She proved that in the primary, rolling over the one time office holder, Sawyer and the millionairess Cafaro - and no doubt she will cement her long career as a congresswoman in November when she crushes the pathetic challenge of Craig Foltin.

I came away from meeting her altogether impressed, which coming from me is something.

Sutton's a strong candidate

that once comes across personably and with great conviction, especially in one-to-one (or two or three) settings.
She's going to make a solid rep for a long time.
