It really reminds me as to why the old RAB shouldn't and didn't or at least on its face tried not to allow some of the filthy comments - is that what you want to encourage, condone and be proud of in your followers?

Expect he'll be relying on the lack of the libel suit as a defense for spreading this garbage for some time. Then, if the Stricklands finally file a libel suit, they'd likely lose Ted is a public figure and damage to reputation would be almost impossible to prove. With no libel verdict, Johnson and the crew would actually declare victory.
Our libel laws are too weak. Just because Ted is running for office and therefore, would have a hard time proving that people didn't vote for him because of these lies, doesn't mean that he shouldn't be afforded the same legal protection we all have.
