Look At Me I Am Campaigning

The second installment of Sherrod Brown at Openers today is short and sweet. It's the "look at me I am campaigning" post

For the latest news including photos from Sherrod's swing across Ohio this weekend, visit the "On the Road" section of our website:

Sherrod made stops at three statewide candidate forums and held two news conferences on trade and national security.

That's it !

Sherrod Brown is missing opportunities here. Compare the posts from Blackwell and Petro and Peirce.

This is a chance to engage voters in something substantive. Yes Brown needs folks to join his campaign to get his field organization running, but asking folks to visit his website isn't the way to do it. Getting people interested and excited in what you are saying and doing is.

Pointing people to your "on the road" section of your website, after the PD has already produced a multimedia presentation of it seems redundant.

Over and over again Brown has asserted he was campaigning against Mike DeWine, going to lay out the case for his candidacy over DeWine's. I have yet to see it other than a few references here and there. DeWine has a long long record to put in the spotlight - when is Brown going to tun it on ?

Nothing has changed since his lackluster Table for one at TPM Cafe. A post saying "look at me, I'm campaigning"? feh.

We have a full scale roll back of abortion rights going on and a wing nut court chomping at the bit to do it - a court DeWine salivated over to put in place.
We have a full scale bigoted attack on Gays and children in Ohio.
We have the Administration destabilizing the Indian subcontinent by giving away nuclear materials and access to the Indians forcing Pakistan into an arms race.
We are heading towards 3,000 dead and 20,000 wounded in Iraq and a full scale civil war that is going to spread beyond Iraq's borders.
We have education costs becoming so high people are losing the ability to climb the economic ladder.
We have America being sold off to the highest foreign bidder.
We have rampant corruption at all levels.
We LOST an entire US city and almost 2,000 people with it and hurricane season is about to start again.
We have illegal domestic spying going on.
We have secret detention and torture facilities all around the world.
We have a spiraling debt mountain.
We have a spiraling trade deficit.
Did I mention Iran ?

Just go look at the front page of the WaPo or the NYT. It's like that every single day.

I really don't want to hear about "look at me campaigning!" or "look at my canary!". Rome is burning and this guy can't even find his fiddle. We need leaders who can speak to these issues and bring solutions. Mike DeWine has abdicated that role and Sherrod Brown shows no signs of filling it.

Sorry folks. These aren't normal times we live in. We need extra ordinary leaders. We need to be able to look beyond party affiliation for them. We don't need people who will "vote the right way". We need people who have ideas and plans on how to dig us out of all this mess.
