Bob Ney Is Lying about Winning in a London Casino
Bob Ney is flat out lying about how he came about that $34,000. He claims he won it by playing just 3 hands of cards in a London Casino.
Trouble is, in Britain you couldn't just walk into a casino and start playing cards. Until 2005 you had to register, then wait 24 hours. It was meant to allow impulsive gamblers a cooling off period.
Did Bob Ney really go to a casino, register with them, then go back 24 hours later to play just 3 hands of cards ?
Reporters should call Ney's office and ask for the name of the Casino he alledges he won at, then call that Casino and ask them to check their registration book. I would bet a large sum of money his name is no where to be found in that book. They should also check his travel records to see if it was even remotely possible. Was he in London long enough to pass the registration period ?
They should also ask him what card game he was playing where 3 hands could net him $34,000 from just a $100 front.

I wrote about this on my late and not-lamented blog last May.
Strangly, the Dispatch article I linked to is still online.
The last line in the article is instructive:
coincidently that $34k was just enough to pay off his credit card debt.
I think I'll be calling Les Ambassadeurs

Hey, even the politicians have to go to Michigan, and even London to gamble. So I guess this means Ney and Boehner support gambling in Ohio, right?
