Horrific Poll For GOP

I don't normally do much national stuff but this is ridiculous

That is the third lowest approval rating of any president in 50 years; only Richard M. Nixon and Jimmy Carter were viewed less favorably.

Now I know Ken Taftwell wants to distance himself from Taft, but how on earth does Bush's Ohio Campaign chairman distance himself from Bush ?

Take a look at the result details. The question of the most important issue. Iraq. Gas Prices. Economy top the list. Abortion doesn't even register. Moral values is right at the bottom of the chart right next to religious values.

The real bizarro point is

How about the Representative in Congress from your district? Do you approve or disapprove of the way your Representative is handling his or her job?

Approve 53
Disapprove 31

That's just completely out of whack with the rest of the results.

This is the sphincter tightener for the GOP

If the 2006 election for U.S. House of Representatives were being held today, would you vote for the Republican candidate or the Democratic candidate in your district?

Rep 33
Dem 44

Check out the rest of the poll. It's just horrific for the GOP. If we didnt have such gerrymandered districts and the election was tomorrow the GOP would be wiped out.

Hey Blackwell, check out this poll on values....

"Fifty percent said Democrats came closer than Republicans to sharing their moral values, compared with 37 percent who said Republicans shared their values."

I don't gay marriage is going to do it this time, Kenny.

Gee, imagine what the

polls for Dumbya would look like if the Democrats were an effective opposition party?

A bit of a worry

I've seen this in a lot of other polls, too. People think that overall congress is terrible, but they feel that their own representative (or senator) isn't the problem; it's those "other guys." Many people seem to have a warm, fuzzy feeling about the guy they know. I think this can be overcome with an effectrive campaign. We will see if the Dems mount an effective campaign. Now or never, baby. If they're all Sherrod Brown, we lose. And I agree with you, modernesquire. Not only are people more worried about other issues than gay marriage but there isn't much more to flog there. Gay marriage is already illegal in so many places that the only way to go is more stringent right-stripping from gays and frankly, I think that the same people that are maybe a little uncomfortable with the idea of gay marriage because they're just not used to it are going to be uncomfortable with the idea of continuing to erode the rights of other law-abiding, tax-paying citizens. The real religious right crazies aren't that large in number, and some of the people trying to manipulate the "religious" voters are looking increasingly insincere.
