McCain Wants To Send Nuclear Waste Through Ohio, But Not AZ
John McCain wants to nearly double the number of nuclear power plans in the nation, but has he really thought things through? According to the Sierra Club, the answer is an overwhelming no.
They estimate that McCain's plan would require about 6,612 casks, each carrying anywhere from 2-15 tons of high-level radioactive waste, being transported through Ohio. But they point out that McCain opposes the idea of transporting waste through his home state of Arizona.
Transcript (beginning at 1:14): Interviewer: What about the transportation? Would you be comfortable with nuclear waste coming through Arizona on its way, you know going through Phoenix, on its way to uh Yucca Mountain? McCain (Shaking Head): “No, I would not. No, I would not.”
“Why does John McCain think it’s ok for hundreds of tons of dangerous nuclear waste to go through Ohio but yet too dangerous to go through his own state? John McCain simply can’t have it both ways when it comes to the nuclear waste issue. Right now he supports running hundreds of shipments of dangerous nuclear waste through Ohio and sticking Nevadans with 77,000 tons of it forever, while at the same time saying he’s uncomfortable with it going through his own backyard for even a day.”

Now let's see him explain his way out of this one without flip-flopping...
Why Not?
Why not KWeber? Do you really want me to haul out the master list of McCain flip-flops?
Flip Flopping
I'm not a McCain supporter, nor am I saying McCain hasn't had his share of flip flops himself over the years. Obama has made J. Crew blush, however, in the last month or so due to all of his flip flops. This coming from someone who is supposed to be above politics as usual.
I'm not sure if I can take Obama at his word on anything after the 180 he did on FISA.
FISA
It's always about McCain
I'm not going to be voting against anyone. I want to vote FOR someone, and I want to vote for someone I can trust at their word. Just because McCain is wrong on an issue too doesn't make it ok for Obama to outright lie.
Say what you want about Hillary Clinton, but she said she'd support a filibuster of any FISA bill with immunity for the telecom companies and she kept her word. Civil liberties are important.
I can always not vote for president if there isn't going to be a trustworthy candidate running.
