Mayor Dean DePiero's Reply:
I missed this diary in the community pool yesterday. I think it deserves a knock to the frontpage. -Jerid
Amid all the hubub a few weeks ago about Parma Mayor Dean DePiero challenging Dennis Kucinich in a 10th district primary blowout extravaganza, I sent the Mayor some words of encourgement:
Mayor DePiero,
As a resident of the 10th Congressional District, I
must say that I was excited to hear rumors that you
are considering challenging Congressman Kucinich in
next year's primary.
I write to encourage you to run, and to let you know
that you have lots of folks in the 10th who are
standing by to support you-financially and
otherwise-should you decide to run.
The 10th district deserves serious representation; the
10th district deserves DePiero (is that a great
soundbite or what?).
Respectfully Yours,
Mark M. Jablonski
Olmsted Falls, OH
Today, I received the following reply from his office:
Mr. Jablonski,
Mayor DePiero has asked that I contact you on his behalf. Mayor DePiero appreciates your support of him, his efforts, and your kind words. He asked that I convey, however, that he is currently committed to continuing to serve the citizens of Parma as Mayor and is looking forward to his re-election this November.
Should something change, I am sure that he will maintain your information for future reference.
Sincerely,
Meghann McCall
Executive Assistant
to Mayor Dean DePiero
So what does this mean? Is Dean out for sure? Will the 10th district hand the largely ineffective, absentee Congressman Kucinich yet another term on a silver platter? I really have no idea.
It's not as if Dean's reply would be the first time that a politician was slightly ambiguous about his intentions to seek higher office.
Time will tell. If you're interested in seeing Dean run, sign the petition at Paul and Ryan's Draft DePiero site here: www.draftdepiero.com
Its kind of hard to work with
So, Are Obama, Clinton, Dodd, Biden etc
all neglecting thier duties?
If Kucinich were to drop out of the Prezzie's, what is your first priority for him to tackle?
What is he neglecting that you feel he should be working on?
Specifics, please~ really, I want to learn.
He's a "do-nothing", can you think of anything that he's done? Has he done nothing?
Why are all these crazy people voting for this guy over and over? Are we all being duped? Does he have us all fooled?
Moms for Ohio
Might want to check with DePiero about his ties to this Betty Montgomery-linked right-wing PAC.
Moms for Ohio, you may recall, is responsible for Ohio's unconstitutional One Nation Under God license plates, as well as anti-gay rhetoric and pretty much every other GOP wedge issue you care to name. They claim to be non-partisan, but in November of Last year, I discovered that MFO was in charge of sending out the Cuyahoga County Republicans newsletter.
DePiero has served as the PAC's Legal Counsel (see last page of PDF) since its inception.
Such an individual would certainly be a major change from the uber-liberal Kucinich.

"Hubbub", really?
and What does he mean?
He is running for re-election in Parma.
So far the draft-petition site has 8 signatures, 6 of the 8 zip codes attached to the names are no where near Ohio's 10th district, and I'm pretty confident that Elizbeth Kucinich isn't a real signatory... So that means that, let's see, we've learned that a contender against Kucinich has to turn over around 20,000 voters, and so far you guys are presenting DePiero with 2 people and $100~
DePiero might even be a supporter of Kucinich, you might ask his opinion before "drafting" him~
This is just a suggestion, I'm not trying to tell anybody what to do, but why not direct your guys' energy to doing something in concert with Kucinich on the issues you agree with rather than this coup plotting?
