Lie For A Year, Then Pretened You Never Said Anything, For A Job With Mark Weaver
This story broke last week, but in between my drive back from New Hampshire and scuttled vacation (thanks Hack, Pryce for coordinating your news with my little break) it got dropped.
Last week Matt Dole, the prominent Republican blogger which surprised all by scrubbing his blog and going underground, popped back on the radar. Not surprisingly, Dole had been hired into to Ohio Super Republican Consultant Mark Weaver's Communications Counsel. For those out of the loop, Weaver was largely responsible for Betty Montgomery's place in Ohio government, along with countless others in the Ohio statehouse. The position with Weaver is quite a reward for the young Dole.
What's more interesting though is how he got it. Matt was always willing to produce ridiculous commentary, and outright lies (in my honest opinion), on his site Lincoln Logs. Recall some of his greatest hits from the Bob Ney scandal that Russell pulled off of Dole's Lincoln Logs way back when (these are all quotes by Dole):
Bob Ney is positioned well for re-election, despite all the noise that hovers around him. He continues to do what is necessary for election: talk to voters, share in their concerns and focus on issues. That could be a free lesson in campaigning for Zack Space, but I am not worried - he is too busy repeating "Abramoff" excitedly in his sleep to read this blog. They know that their only hope is 1. that Ney gets indicted and 2. that Ney stays in the race. If both of those things fail to happen all the advertising in the world won't help Ney's opponent. That is a risk they aren't willing to take, and that is pretty telling about their thoughts on Zack Space (and, frankly, it reflects positively on Bob Ney). This one is going to hit you like a ton of bricks. Are you sitting down? You better sit down. Prepare yourself for the amazement of amazements:The Mainstream Media blew a story about Bob Ney out of proportion.
I know. It was an earth shattering revelation for me as well. That has never happened.
Well except for every other story about Bob Ney over the last three years. But, really, other than that.
OH-18 Help Zack At Least Win an Unscientific Online PollĶOr Not
I can only imagine we would see release tomorrow suggesting that an independent poll showed him ahead in the race, except, Bob Ney is winning. Zack better get used to that. This question is not whether Bob Ney is "hemorraging" money as the Reporter says, but rather at $308,000 per cycle whether Space will be able to compete at all in this race.OH-18 Space Hires Harmon Pollster
Bob Ney is just fine. Just like when the lefties promised an indictment was imminent only to be "Roved" when the investigation ended without action, this is another inaccurate attempt to reassure Space that he belongs on the same stage as Bob Ney when, in fact, Space has not proven to have even the very basic skills necessary to serve the OH-18. Whatever they need to sleep at night, we know better.First, I was extremely happy with House Majority Whip Roy Blunts re-assuring words predicting that Bob Ney would be re-elected in the fall. Good to see someone who supports allowing the system to work, rather than the normal frenzy-stirring in hopes to create political pressure from the left (and by "left," I mean both blogs and MSM).OH-18 Maybe Chicken's his MIDDLE Name
The USA Today discusses Bob Ney (in an amazingly principled way. Not flaming the fire with talk of imminent indictments or other garbage meant for the National Enquirer or Buckeye State Blog - but I repeat myself...Of course the same people promising that an indictment is right around the corner are the ones who did the same with Karl Rove. How did that turn out for the lefties?
But wait! How could someone look in mirror without feeling utter contempt for themselves for making such preposterous statements? Well as Matt likes to say:
"I'm much more of a party-player. I'm more of a party loyalist. I tow the party line," Dole said.
Translation= "I'll say anything to get the most dirty Republican re-elected." Heh, so quite a little reward from Mark Weaver for all those long hours of depravity Dole's put in. Congrats - he's earned it.
