Latourette On Track To Set World Record For No Votes On Jobs
LaTourette votes against Small Businesses
Despite the economic outlook, Congressman continually votes against all efforts to help small businesses with tax relief.
Stow – Democratic congressional candidate Bill O’Neill was angered, but not surprised, to hear Congressman. Steve LaTourette cast a vote against the Small Business Jobs Tax Relief Act. The Act will help local businesses with write off costs, alleviate tax penalties, and increase the capital gains exclusions for small businesses.
“Once again, Steve LaTourette is dead wrong. Every time he gets a chance to vote for investments in small business, he votes no. This reflects a pattern for this Congressman and much of Washington. Lots of talk, but in the end, they vote for the corporations who write their campaign checks.”Throughout the last two years, LaTourette has uniformly voted against any sort of job creation legislation. This includes H.I.R.E. Act of 2010 (H.R. 2847, Dec. 19, 2009, NO), the Small Business Tax Relief Act, American Workers (H.R. 5486, June 15, 2010, NO), American Workers, State, and Business Relief Act of 2010 (H.R. 4213, Dec. 9, 2010, NO), the Small Business and Infrastructure Jobs Tax Act (H.R. 4849, March 24, 2010, NO), Disaster Relief and Summer Jobs Act (H.R. 4899, March 24, 2010, NO), Home Star Jobs Act (H.R. 5019, May 6, 2010, NO), and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (H.R. 1, Jan. 28, 2009, NO).
“Let’s look at this from the perspective of someone trying to start-up and expand a small business,” O’Neill said. “Steve has told this individual that allowing her or his business to deduct $20,000 from start up costs would not benefit them. He has told this person trying to contribute to the local economy that some of the more burdensome tax penalties should remain in place. Steve LaTourette is on his way to setting a world record for his job killing no votes.”
