Last word on Frankie Coleman

2010 Buckeye - Posted on 07 August 2007

This story is over. Mrs. Coleman received five years probation, $1,000 in fines, and 100 hours of community service. It was a fitting sentence considering the circumstances, especially Mrs. Coleman's commitment to treating her alcohol addiction.

The right wing smear machine will say some nasty things in the next few days, but this story is done. Despite their best efforts, the vast majority of Columbus will quickly move beyond it. Mayor Coleman will be overwhelmingly reelected in November, and he will continue to provide the admirable leadership he has demonstrated in his first two terms. The more the righties foam at the mouth on this issue, the more they help sink their municipal candidates in the fall.

If any good comes of this, it will be that more people who suffer from alcoholism will realize the devastating affects of the disease and will seek treatment. Beyond that, there is nothing more to say about it.

She basically got the maximum fine for one count and the maximum period of probation possible.
because you're the lawyer. i'm not.

I guess it's also good input to point out that the judge has reserved the right to impose a year-long jail sentence (the maximum possible penalty provided by law), if Coleman happens to violate her probation in the next five years?

Ok, now I'm done barring a Naugle idiot alarm going off...
