Kasich vs. Strickland, 2010 - a REAL good reason for Ted to switch endorsements

NixGuy brought this to my attention.  I've had a few conversations with people about 2010, and I believe that Strickland's gonna be in trouble vs. Kasich, largely because of tying himself at the hip to Hillary Clinton in 2008.

In a world where Hillary Clinton was an inevitable nominee, and there was no Barack Obama, Ted endorsing Hillary early was safe.  Ohio's primary wouldn't have mattered, Ted wouldn't have had to lift a finger.  And Ted would have been seen as a loyal soldier in the march to the White House.

That world became a fantasy pretty quick, and Ted had to do WAY more than I am quite certain he had planned, or wanted to do, for Hillary.  Ted has spent the better part of the last 4 months putting miles of videotape into the GOP's hands with him standing next to Hillary, the most hated woman in the history of the GOP.  There's Ted standing there nodding his head while Hillary lies about NAFTA.  There's Ted screaming her name.  There's Ted waving his hands in the air while Hillary does the seal clap.   The ads write themselves.

And it's not only a GOP problem for Ted.  It's a problem with independents.  Hillary is no less polaraizing among Ohio's independents, to whom Ted largely owes his governorship, than she is among Ohio's Republicans.

I'm sure the Ted folks will say, but look!  Hillary won Ohio on March 4!  Well, fine....go ahead and dream on.  First of all, it wasn't a general election.  Second, those same people who voted for Hillary over Barack on March 4, voted for a woman they loathe over the black guy they don't really know.  They still loathe her.  And the longer this primary goes on in 2008, the more reason she gives them to loathe her.  And they'll be reminded over and over again by John Kasich just how much they loathe her, and just how much Ted Strickland wrapped himself around her.

But what about the Democratic base in 2010?  Ooops!....looks like Ted has tied himself to the one person who could turn black voters against the Democratic party for a generation.  Oh, darn.  If I were John Kasich, I'd be campaigning for an entire year in black precincts, passing out those pictures of Ted & Hillary to every church, barber shop, beauty salon, every black institution I could find that Hillary has managed to smear for months.

And the worst part?  Hillary isn't even gonna be the nominee this year.  Barack Obama will.  Darn again.  And then Ted's going to need Barack Obama WAY more than Barack Obama needs Ted now, or ever.  Isn't that special.  And if Hillary does somehow manage to win the nomination by superdelegate coup of Verdun-obliteration proportions, she will be destroyed in the general, and I wouldn't want to be a Democratic elected official in 2010 if my life depended on it.  Especially one who endorsed the wrong candidate.

So how to solve this terrible re-election problem for Ted in 2010?  Switch your endorsement, Ted.  You'll prevent a civil war in the party, you'll begin to repair your ever weakening relationship with the black electorate, and maybe, just maybe, John Kasich's use of miles of Hillary video with you in them won't be so effective.  You'll be a hero.

Not gonna hold my breath for it, but it makes a whole lotta sense to me.

Umm, paging Jerid

Don't you think it's time to do something about all this puking all over the front page of your blog?

Give me a break, Russo

Are you COMPLETELY incapable of writing anything without the lens of the Clinton-Obama primary?!?!

Yes, we all know how unpopular a Governor is supporting the candidate that actually won the primary by over ten points.  Absolutely crushed the man...

And, of course, you miss the inconvenient facts that right now Hillary beats McCain in Ohio according to SurveyUSA.

And, yet again, your spreading the "we're losing the African American vote forever" myth based on a poll that actually shows that with Clinton we keep most of the African-American vote, but with Obama we LOSE the almost two-thirds of the white vote.

You keep perpetuating myth after myth (like Hillary only won by the Limbaugh voters even though the exit polls showed the Republican vote was perfectly split between the candidate) not only in the absence of any evidence, but in reality, in direct contradiction of all available evidence.

Barack isn't going to need Ted more than Ted is going to need Barack?  Are you high?

Take a look at the 2004 electoral map and tell me what state(s) Obama picks up that Kerry did not. Make Richardson his running mate so you can claim with some credibility that he'll pick up two SW states.

Now add up those electoral votes.  Does he win other than from a tie breaking vote in the House?

Now go back to the 2004 map and move Ohio into the Democratic column.  And vola-la!  Democratic victory.

If you don't think Obama isn't going to need Ted Strickland's help in the general election to wrestle Ohio from McCain given his current standings in this State, you are just plain wrong.

I think the Rasmussen polling (and all other polling for that matter) proves that you are grossly overstating the racial/political fear you have been stoking lately.

Yeah, Tim, Kasich is going to do real well depressing African American turnout for Strickland.  Yeah, he'll do even better than Blackwell, the first African-American candidate for governor in Ohio.

I love how your post is just built over layers of speculation, inneundo, outright fabrication, and then amazing leads to you proving your own thesis!  Amazing how that keeps happening.

Do you honestly think that THIS is going to be the issue in the gubernatorial campaign two years ago?  Did you miss the fact that Kasich is proposing eliminating the state's income tax, but doesn't have a plan for the $9 BILLION dollars loss in revenue that would mean for the State?

No, that's not an important issue.  The fact that the Governor supported the Democratic candidate who won his State but didn't get the nomination is faaarr more important.

Yeah, keep wishing for defeat, Tim.  It's not like Ted can't help Obama in the general if gets the nomination and essentially negates this as an issue.  Nope, no way that could happen.

whatever.

what.  ever.

Riveting defense

I'll take your lack of defense on any of these completely valid points I raised that you simply don't care about the truth anymore but that you're more interested in striking out against anyone who dares to think differently than you or actually cares about being objective when they write about politics.

dude, get over yourself for 15 seconds

it's a blog.  and if you think this calculation isn't going on in ODP's head, you're dreaming.

Obama's Body Found! No Foul Play Suspected!

I read these blogs and think that certain bloggers have convinced themselves that bloggers have more importance then they really do.

It seems like some bloggers assert their opinion thinking and hoping that players and media are actually going to make decisions based on reading your blog. Blogs are fun they may be a measure of political tide.

Blogs have an audience, but when people read bloggers making, impossible, improbable assertions, they aren't listening to that.

Obama is a loser. He lost Ohio, he's a loser, he didn't win. This nomination will be decided by super delegates and potlicking.

Obama can't win Ohio against McCain. Period. I believe it IS RACE and if you think that the ODP isn't taking that into their equation YOU are dreaming.

Whatever your personal motivation is for supporting him, you need to examine it because you are supporting him beyond just liking him as a candidate. This is personal to you. Maybe you think if people see you supported the right/winning candidate your influence as a blogger will increase? ("See I told you so" syndrome)

The REAL dirt on Obama hasn't even been slung yet, there are many things HRC is waiting to spring on everyone, the circus has yet to begin.

The "Tonya Harding option" wasn't an idle threat it was a Soprano Style Warning.

what ev dude, i m so audi.

Russo, your Obama-centric take on the world

Is old and tired. And I say that as a fervent Obama supporter. Please allow this site to be what it once was, and continues to try to be when you are not hogging BSB space with crap like this posting - a place where legitimate and sincere discussion can take place about issues important to Ohioans. Jerid, please take your blog back.

much ado about nothing

If Obama wins the nomination (and it's still if, not when), then Strickland will simply support Obama for his run to the presidency. And I think he will do so enthusiastically, whether or not he's on a short list for VP. And, of course, Obama will welcome & appreciate Strickland's endorsement.

It's not like such situations haven't happened before in presidential politics, in EVERY SINGLE election, despite the "analysis" above.

And if Strickland is in sooooo much trouble with the black community for his endorsement of the Ohio primary winner, where does that put Stephanie Tubbs Jones?

PLJ=C U STJ

If Peter Lawson Jones ever decides he'd rather be in Congress than in county government, that would put Stephanie Tubbs Jones in the job search market. His desire to stay at home keeps her in Congress.

I agree on PLJ

I think Peter wants to stay in Ohio and will not challenge STJ, although I've got to believe that he is thinking about it.

'you'll begin to repair your

'you'll begin to repair your ever weakening relationship with the black electorate' Does a Democrat really need to worry about the black electorate?  I know the polls claim blacks will abandon the Dems but will they really? I really don't think they'll vote for McCain, they'll go stand in line for 10 hours so they can bitch and moan about how they were disenfranchised ... isn't that what they are really all about?

THAT is the point!

Disenfranchise as many voters as possible.

The more people lose interest in politics the fewer the voters that have to be influenced/controlled. The easier it becomes to influence the outcome of elections.

The MORE people participate in government the stronger (better action in) government we will have.

Eliminate the voters all together, and we can run around in our underpants not just through The White House , but the Congress as well.

Pajama party Ohio AG Style.

Its all about towing the party line. If you DON'T support the "right" party candidate your vote shouldn't count. If you don't learn the parties ways and goals, leave.

May I validate your parking on your way out?

The fewer people that are interested in what their government does, the easier it will be to legislate over the will of the people.

Why do we need voters to vote in elections? They are busy voting on American idol. Sadly, they have as much influence on that show as they do in politics.

Disenfranchise black voters? Hell, I say disenfranchise anyone that doesn't pay attention to their governments actions!!!!!!

Educated well informed constituents are dangerous, for politicians.

Let's eliminate lazy, apathetic people that waste their votes by voting without information. Like Obama supporters.

It as moronic as voting drunk.

Do The Math. Ted is a Winner. Bill Oneill

Ted Strickland made a decision to support Hillary early in the race, and then he set about the task of making his endorsement worth something. Ted is the Governor of Ohio and he is the top elected official in a rejuvenated Ohio Democratic party. Look at what they did in 2006!!! Hillary won Ohio with Ted's help. And if she becomes the nominee, she will get that help again. And the same goes for Obama. If he gets the nomination, he automatically gets Ted and the party.

HOWEVER, WE CANNOT LOSE SIGHT OF ONE FACT. The ultimate nominee, Obama or Hillary, needs Ohio to get to the White House...and they will need Ted to win Ohio. It really is that simple. To suggest Ted has somehow become tainted by his support of Hillary ignores the reality of what is going on here. We have two candidates who stand head and shoulders over the Republicans. When the party decides Hillary versus Obama, and the nominee is selected (finally) the process of winning Ohio will begin in earnest.

I predict a maximum of 24 hours will elapse between Hillary or Obama being nominated...and photo op of the nominee and Ted, arms raised, in the air. He is a winner and he has a right to support whomever he chooses. To suggest he will "lose" in 2010 because of his leadership is silly. But that's me.

Bill Oneill

I heard that

I believe the nominee (read: Obama) will need to hit Pennsylvania first, but I can't imagine anyone could disagree with anything else the future Congressman has said.

And a deafening silence from Mr. Russo . . .

*crickets chirping* Thank you, Mr. O'Neill.

My new blog is open if you're exhausted by the Modern Clown Act

www.bloggerinterrupted.com

There ain't no deafening silence there, fella.   All are welcome.  And modern, you better bring your A game if you wanna comment there.  Your GOP talking points may work in the Redfern world, but that doesn't make them rational.

Good luck, Tim

I think you'll recall I personally wrote you to disagree with your decision to kill your "Democracy Guy" blog in the first placec. I never accused you of being a mouthpiece for the GOP, even when you pushed Kasich over Strickland here.   But whatever.

I like you Tim, and I respect you. Too bad you can't return the favor.

Best of luck.

modern, get over yourself

i respect you, but when you shout SANFRANCISCOFUNDRAISER etc. etc., it's parroting the GOP.  i'll tell you that to your face precisely BECAUSE i respect you.

now quit the clown act and get on the O-train.

Chooo Chooo

I hear the O-train can move 1000 Obama supporters 1 mile for every gallon of hot air he billows.

The little Negro that could.

I hope I can, I hope I can, I hope I can....Choo Chooo!!!!
*Steam whistle blows*

Come to E. 99th & St. Clair

I hereby extend a personal invitation to bring your bitchass down to E. 99th & St. Clair after dark on a Saturday in July, with a megaphone, to shout:

"I hear the O-train can move 1000 Obama supporters 1 mile for every gallon of hot air he billows.

The little Negro that could.

I hope I can, I hope I can, I hope I can....Choo Chooo!!!!
*Steam whistle blows*  "

at the top of your lungs to all around. You don't have to balls to say ridiculous things like "the little Negro that could" anywhere near anyone with so much as a tan, so cut the bullshit here, you ignorant fuck.

Will the real Obamites please stand up?

I didn't mean to offend anyone, my apologies to everyone.

However,

I'll see you in October, and I'll bring some of my best African-American OBAMA HATER friends from Mount Vernon and 20 AND WE'LL ALL BE SHOUTING IT because by that time everyone will know how Obama let them down.

Cool your jets, geeze you act like I called him something REALLY hurtful like "big ears."

I WONDER WHY YOU'D WANT ME TO COME TO 99 & St. Clair....

This is a snapshot of exactly what WHITE MIDDLE CLASS VOTERS are afraid of "The USA of KKK", "Whites are the skunks of humanity", blacks associated with Obama, can say ANYTHING they want about whites.

But let 1 blogger use the word NEGRO referring to Obama and be ready to see the REAL ignorant veiled threats and profanity begin. You act like I dropped the "N" bomb. (which I would never ever do)

You can say what YOU want but Gawd damned the whitey that states what HE thinks. (ps. I'm bi-racial and have a "tan")

Here is the OBAMA-ITIS that has infected many in our nation.

I CAN'T DO ANYTHING BY MYSELF I NEED HELP.
I NEED A HAND UP AND A HAND OUT TO GET ANYWHERE IN LIFE.
Help me Obam-man, Help me.

My mentor is a black, Negro (African American if you prefer) man.
He says the same things, WHITE PEOPLE FEAR BLACK PEOPLE. (did I mention I'm bi-racial and have a "tan") But why do some black people WANT white people to fear them. Because, fear is the great equalizer.

I see it in my African American clients eyes and hear it in their statements. They are afraid of white people and the culture they don't understand. The same way white people are afraid of black culture that they don't understand.

Not admitting feeling fear is the REAL "ignorance"

But, I meet as many people that don't seem to get why I wear a suit into their neighborhood, everyday and try to help get something accomplished by accepting "Pro-Bono" clients. Maybe I am ignorant.

Racism is rooted in FEAR. Fear that turns to hate. I fear you, because I don't "get" you.

I certainly don't understand why it is "cool" to have 5 baby-mommas all around town. I don't understand "livin' large" (receiving section 8 housing, free air conditioning, lawn mowing services, food stamps, medicaid, yet still be able to drive an Escalade?????? The car is paid for with drug money, registered in someones mom's name and paid for by a "babies daddy" thuggery.)

Obama doesn't get me. He might understand "thug life" but he doesn't represent ME. White middle class America. So Obama can't fix FEAR because he is to busy NOT-attending his church of proclaimed membership to hear anti-white racist vomit.
Frustrated? Yeah! Bitter, not really.

A visit to 99 & St. Clair doesn't scare me in the least, but you'd like it to.

You don't know me, or how I try to serve the black community.

How is that for ignorant?

Thank my "Gawd" that I cling to, because if I didn't I'd be bitter and not represent people that can't pay. My African American friends and I service clients that "can't pay" but drive nicer cars than we do and the clients haven't worked a day in their life.

Obama can't fix the FEAR of differing cultures that people don't understand. There are "two Americas", 3 Americas, four as many cultures as people that chose to preserve their "cultural identity."

This is the great melting pot, but people are refusing to melt and they want to cram their culture down my throat and force me to accept their diversity. Why don't YOU accept MY non-diversity. I don't want to be different, I want to be the SAME and find what we have in common to bring us together, not focus on what makes us different and keeps us separate.

You want me to come and make statements on my thoughts about Obama so you HOPE (like Obama) that some thugs, will beat me down or stab me. Even if I did no one would do *hit. Because I can make my point without getting stabbed, beaten or shot.

Could you? Violence and profanity the REAL measure of ignorance.

You want to unleash profanity on me then say I'M the ignorant one...looks like YOU are the one that can't find the words to dispute me.

Dispute what?

I made the assumption, based on your words, that you are a white person trying to enflame racial tensions. You made the assumption, based on my words, that I am a black person trying to shout you down so you can't say anything constructive. Neither assumption is true.

But what is true is that you made the statement trying to enflame tensions. You also did not say anything constructive. If you make a comment deliberately intended to divide and then defend it like you're trying to unite, that makes you a hypocrite. And anytime someone uses language designed to divide along racial lines, that type of behavior merits a reaction in kind. You wanted a reaction so you could spout off what you wrote in reply. That's why you wrote what you did originally. Congratulations. You got it. It's quite disingenuous of you to pretend like you're actually seeking to bring people together.

If hanging around E. 99th & St. Clair after dark on a Saturday in July doesn't scare you right now, you're a fool. It scares the people who live there. It scares police I know who have to respond to calls there--white and black alike. The only people who claim they aren't scared right now are the 15 year olds buying illegal handguns from the drug dealers squatting in a foreclosed house and using those guns to cause mayhem because they think it makes them look hard. They are the reason people are scared--they don't seem to understand that life is not a game. Having a positive role model who overcomes the negative attacks seeking to drag him into the muck would do wonders for those kids. Hillary Clinton is not that positive role model.

Just one question.....

Who is in charge over there on 99 & St. Clair?

Black democrats that won't go over there either....

Obama is nothing more than a Billy Dee Williams/Denzel Washington/Martin Luther King Jr./Malcom X wanna be.

We can talk about uniting once you get the picture that Hillary ISN'T going to give up until she gets this nomination.

Who is in charge over on 99 & St. Clair?

Black Democrats!

The same as NEW ORLEANS, The same as Detroit, the same as Washington D.C. they all all battle zones. (Thank God for Philadelphia!)

Did you see Obamas tax returns?
Black politicians walk on backs of poor black voters just like all the rest.
Obama has done work in poor neighborhoods Fantastic! Has he been BACK?
Way to "give back" Did you notice how much he gave to The Black Democratic Caucus? I guess we know where his priorities are....getting elected. I bet the donation to the dance charity that Michelle is on the board of REALLY benefited those urban inner city kids. Urban kids LOVE ballet! and mentored lots of youth to get out of the "hood." I'm in the hood, my clients are in the hood, my friends are in the hood,...I know the "hood" as well as an outsider interloping, carpetbagger can.

Thanks for forgetting about the poor!!!!!

I hear the same thing from my African American clients, they carry flyers on their backs, go door to door, organize fund raisers (when many of them are on food stamps) then when the black candidate gets elected, THEY ARE NEVER HEARD FROM AGAIN. They won't even answer calls made to their office. (Democrat and republican alike)

I rest my case.

Bring on the Great White Hope...HILLARY CAN'T DO ANY WORSE! At least she has a RECORD of not forgetting her constituents.

"Who is in charge over on 99

"Who is in charge over on 99 & St. Clair?

Black Democrats!

The same as NEW ORLEANS, The same as Detroit, the same as Washington D.C. they all all battle zones. (Thank God for Philadelphia!) "

So black Democrats came first, and then the crime? There was crime in Hough before there were black people in Hough. The crime is the responsibility of and fault of black Democrats? The crime has nothing to do with white flight?

E. 99th & St. Clair is Hough. Hough was the neighborhood hardest hit by early white flight. A significant portion of Hough is now the Cleveland Clinic because of this.

"Who is in charge over on 99 & St. Clair? "

If you mean to ask who is the elected representative, her name is Councilwoman Fannie Lewis. She is one of the longest-serving members in history, is well-respected, and is everywhere in her neighborhood. Nice try with your generalities.

You bring up good points

You bring up a few points.

Of course crime came first, not black OR democratic leadership.

But you zeroed exactly on my point.

But WHY ISN'T the problem being fixed? Who is in charge while it is STILL BROKEN? or getting worse?????

Most politicians spend all their time getting elected then spend all their time getting back rubs in massage parlors, riding in limos. It is a catch 22 for the politician. For the CAREER politician. If you fix problems, then you eliminate issues in your platform for re-election.

Many politicians aren't interested in solutions. They focus on PROBLEMS. Democrat AND REPUBLICAN. If you fix the problem who remembers?

The strategy that most politicians follow is DON'T do anything!!!!

Do anything good, no one remembers.

Do anything bad and you'll end up like Elliot Spitzer. Who remembers ANYTHING he did the day his bad behavior was revealed.

Catch-22.

DON'T DO ANYTHING to ensure your re-election.

I'm not saying this is every case, HOWEVER in my neighborhood "Well Respected" being said of a politician means "hasn't pissed anyone off" and "Doesn't get *hit done"

Cleveland is a battle zone, Toledo is worse and the area is run by union loyal democrats.

Democrats as well as republicans NEED TO CLEAN UP THEIR ACT.

Our form of government was meant for those serving to be BI-vocational. These attorneys that become career politicians are mentally ill.
Serve the public, then GO HOME!!!!!

Just ask Marc Dann, he should have "gone home" a long time ago. (or his hero Elliot Spitzer)

We elect these politicians then we can't get rid of them because they love the lime light too much. They are cracked eggs, low self-esteem, "love me" sociopaths. (most of them)

To become respected, let

To become respected, let alone well respected, on Cleveland City Council requires pissing people off. Fannie Lewis has pissed off more people than anyone can count, and that's precisely the reason people like her. She does get things done.

What Strickland actually accomplished

was to make Ohio less relevant in the general election. Strickland geared up his machine for Clinton, to the effect that Obama may be non-competitive in the state. The Obama campaign strategy for November will focus on Iowa, Nebraska, Missouri, New Mexico, Alaska, Colorado, Wisconsin and even Texas as a result. The loss is for Ohio. Strickland will be shunned by an Obama administration. He sold his soul to the Clinton prevarication machine. That was duly noted and will not be forgotten. Switching endorsements now would appear to be as crass as it would be. Time to look for new state Democratic leadership that gets the message of Obama's new politics.

Nonsense....

This is even crazier than what Russo wrote. Now Ohio won't be relevant in the general election? Because you say so? Ohio always matters in Presidential elections, and so far, the polling in the State shows that Ohio is going to be a key battleground state for both parties. Obama can't win Texas, Nebraska, or Alaska.  Period.

If he could win those States, then there not only is Ohio not important by no traditional battleground is.  If Obama won Texas and Alaska, then the race is over because he'll have enough to win with those states and the traditional Democratic "safe" states (like Wisconisin which either Obama or Clinton should win.)

Now, a victory in Ohio almost equals a victory in New Mexico, Colorado, and Iowa combined.  You also seem to forget that Obama has done poorly in the Southwest, particular with the Latino population, thus making his victories there far from certain.  It would be insanity for Obama to try to sweep all three states in order to offset giving up on Ohio.  Ohio is going to be the kind of state that the Democratic candidate will end McCain's chances as McCain cannot win without Ohio.  Take the 2004 map and move Ohio into the D column and we win.  The only other potential swing state that went to the Republicans last time that can do that is Florida.

Obama's campaign will include Ohio in the strategy and their first priority after the primary is getting Ted Strickland on board to help out in the general.

Politicians switch endorsements after the primaries in which their candidate didn't win all the time.  Hell, it's expected of them.  I never saw anyone suggest it was crass of Richardson to endorse Obama after running against him.  What's the difference?

This is nothing more than political venom against the Governor by Obama's supporters dressed up as analysis.  It's utter nonsense.

no, not "period"

"Obama can't win Texas, Nebraska, or Alaska.  Period."

Obama probably can't win Texas or Alaska, but has a chance to get 1 electoral vote from Nebraska's first House district. No "period." No one has a clue how the election will play-out there--no one in Ohio, anyway. We have a real chance to steal away a single electoral vote there. Don't speak in absolutes about a state that has no longer has any electoral vote absolutes.

Ok...

Look, winning one of Nebraska's congressional districts and getting that electoral vote is not the same thing as winning Nebraska as the rest of the electoral votes, by implication, would be going to McCain. He claimed Obama would "win Nebraska," which I take to mean at least winning a majority of its electoral votes since they do the apportional thang. It seems that you agree with me that Obama cannot do that, that he cannot win the entire State.

Wisconsin safe for Dems. Uh-huh

traditional Democratic "safe" states (like Wisconisin which either Obama or Clinton should win.)

You're out of touch, modern.  Wisconsin is far from a Democratic "safe state."  The neighboring state of Minnesota, with an equal number of electoral votes, has not gone to a Republican since Nixon in 72; but even MN can no longer be considered safe for Dems.  Know why?  It's such a great place to live it has attracted trash from all over the country which has diluted its progressive nature.

Mar 26   Wisconsin Clinton 39% McBush 50%   Rasmussen

Mar 26   Wisconsin Obama 46% McBush 48%   Rasmussen

Funny

The WaPo considers MN, not WI, to be the swing state this cycle. Regardless, you know what you get when you add MN and WI together?

The same electoral votes as Ohio.

This is why...

...I'll take a certain perverse pleasure from Obama's November victory without him winning Ohio.  This state doesn't deserve to judge the participants in an onion-eating contest.

Strickland KNOWS......

Ted Strickland has the benefit of tens of thousands of dollars worth of political polling AND A PROVEN SUCCESS RECORD of knowing what it takes to win in OH-IO. Ted has 20/20 election hindsight.

I have met Ted on numerous occasions and for all the things I don't' know about the guy, I TRUST the things I DO know about him.

I was a fan of Hillary before many of you J-holes even knew she was going to run. Try back in the 90's before she was even elected Senator of New York.

Ted KNOWS what it takes to get elected in Ohio and Ohio isn't THAT much different from the entire U.S.

Normal people, that want to see their families and business prosper.
That is it, the beginning and the end.

If you want to get elected in a NATIONAL ELECTION take care of peoples concern for FAMILIES, that includes their jobs, businesses and the economy at large. Everything else is just static.

The Economy, Abortion, Gay Marriage, Capitol Punishment, the War in Iraq, HOW DOES IT EFFECT MY ability to make money and provide for my loved ones, FAMILY. Loved ones, HEART.

Every election boils down to an issues of the HEART.
HOW WILL YOU (politician) TAKE CARE ABOUT THE THINGS I CARE FOR???

Same with Black voters, Hispanic, Latino, Hindi, Muslim, Martian.
Do you (politician) care for the things I CARE FOR?

Hillary beats Obama in ONE way. FAMILY.
Is there ANY question that HILLARY KNOWS how to protect her family?

AFFAIRS, SCANDALS??? This bitch KNOWS the SAME thing WE KNOW. Affairs of the heart are IMPORTANT and INSEPARABLE from voter logic.

TED KNOWS as a minister, councilor, and family man. ALL issues boil down to WHAT I CARE ABOUT, what is in my heart?

Gay marriage, why? Heart.

Abortion, why? HEART.

Capitol punishment, heart.

Gun Control, guns protect my family or protect guns from my family, heart.

Hillary KNOWS to have a boilermaker with THE PEOPLE, sincere or not.

Obama DOESN'T know to NOT trow a gutter ball (sincere or not)
DOn't play a sport you know you will suck at in from of a camera.

Hillary has children (that, when I met seem well rounded)

Obama does NOT!

Hillary has protected her marriage in a very public forum (right or not)

Obama has not.

Hillary baggage can pass for a regular white trash Jerry Springer puttin' her biz "on blast" on the 6 o'clock news.

OBAMA CAN'T go on Springer and pass for a normal guy even though he is bi-racial, from broken home with a single mother, drug smoking, chicken cookin' (drug reference) home. Obama has ALL than enough personal baggage to qualify and pass for a "normal" guy but looking down his nose at us isn't going to get him elected.

Everyday white people do NOT relate to OBAMA. He won't get elected because of it.

Ted KNOWS what Hillary is....a Arkansas white trash, mother with a philandering husband that knows how to hold her shit together AND THAT IS WHAT WILL GET HER ELECTED. Imperfect as she is, SHE IS AN AMERICAN that people can identify with that.

Who is Obama? Muslim/Christian convert, with NO children, little experience, black racist, elitist that can't bowl and makes fun of Hillary that can swill liquor with the best of us.

Ted KNOWS!

Hillary wins! TED KNOWS!

You will be singing the blues when Ted accepts the VP nomination from Hillary. And Ohio sweeps them in busting with excitement and state PRIDE.

TED KNOWS!

"Ohio is always important" until it isn't.

And now it isn't as important as other states, not because I say it's so, because Ted Strickland made it so. He poisoned the well for Obama in Ohio, therefore the campaign will strategically focus elsewhere. McCain needs to win Ohio. Obama does not.

And if Strickland is so omniscient, why did he choose the losing candidate? And why did his principal strategist and polling expert, David Wilhelm, endorse Obama? Huh?

The swill of lies about Obama, such as the ridiculous statement that he has no children, shows just how much knowledge you have. And I can't say much for your math skills if you think HRC is going to be the nominee.

168 pledged delegate lead. Read it and weep.

You keep peddling the same trash

David Axelrod foolish said that losing Ohio in the primary wouldn't matter for the Obama campaign because there's no way the State would go for the Republicans given the economy. There's simply no evidence to support your wishful belief that the Obama campaign is so stupid as to write off Ohio.  Especially in favor of a strategy that requires them to sweep a number of swing states (most of which are in McCain's backyard) in order to make up for the loss in Ohio.

I bet within four months we'll see how important Ohio is going to be for Obama (something that Russo never questioned in his post, btw).

By definition, if McCain needs Ohio to win the presidency, then Obama needs to win it to avoid losing.  Unless you think this State is going to Nader?

Strickland picked the candidate who won his State by a large margin.  Cut him some slack.  He also supported Paul Hackett and was one of his biggest boosters in D.C. at the time.  Don't hear many people attacking Ted for that "poor choice".

David Wilhelm was not Strickland's principal strategist and pollster.  He was for Clinton in 1996.  As for why Wilhelm might be supporting Obama, does the name Antoin Rezko ring a bell?  If so, then you have your answer.

Oh, and btw, a 168 delegate lead is hardly the kind of juggernaut lead you're making it out to be.  Especially given that Obama is predicted to lose a number of races (PA, IN, KY, and WV) coming down the pike, despite his "presumptive nominee" status.

Also, according to MSNBC, WaPo, and the Associated Press, it's only a 136 lead. CNN says it's a 143 lead.

SONGster

Your logic is flawed.

When does math have anything to do with elections?

Did you not see the fiasco of the 2000 Bush vs. Gore how did the math work out then?

Omniscience doesn't have anything to do with the outline of tens of thousands of dollars spent on polling for his own election. I could have sworn I covered that.

Who knows why David Wilhelm endorsed Obama, maybe he is a red wine sipping, crack fiend. Maybe he likes long shots, maybe he's Obama's secret lover, all I KNOW IS he doesn't have as much to lose as Strickland.

Obama has no family he has ever had to defend in the public eye prior to his defending them from the pedophile.

Math has nothing to do with SUPERDELEGATES deciding this nomination.

Your dreams don't either.

You obviously have some kind of affection for Obama so how could you say that my lies and elections being decided by heart issues is incorrect?

Continue to dream SONGster, after all it is what America is made of, dreamers.

So what you're saying is if

So what you're saying is if you don't walk lock-step with Obama you are out ... you might as well be a Republican? What kind of LUNACY is that ... where is "Obama the UNITER" when you can't even allow someone in your own party to support someone else in the primary? Take a lesson from Obama and allow Strickland to have an opinion ... it's not as if he won't endorse and embrace Obama when it comes time for the generals. Did it occur to you that maybe he just liked Hillary more? Isn't he entitled to have an opinion? ... or does Obama teach "YOU ARE WITH ME OR YOU WILL BE BLACKBALLED BY ME" ... why am I defending democrats? ... OMG I've been infected! I just really respect Ted Strickland.

It's really simple -- Ohio had a privileged position

being courted by all candidates. All Strickland had to do was remain neutral and wait for all the kowtowing to begin, as Sherrod Brown has done for example.

But no, Strickland was terrified that the Obama challenge would threaten the ol' boy machine, especially in the south. Strickland could not stand for that, so he went whole hog for the machine candidate, and he stumped through the south with both Hillary and Bill, lying all the way, supporting their race-baiting strategy, and accruing margins for Clinton like 70% in Scioto County, Strickland's home base.

Well, Clinton is the loser. What Strickland did was to piss Ohio's bargaining position away.

If we want to get back some respectability and leverage, we have to find new leadership, that makes decisions with more intelligence and integrity.

Obama is not requiring anything of you. He's ignoring you. Get used to it. The people in the states that are undergoing active political transformation will now get the attention.

RED ALERT!!!!

Someone check Songster's ISP address.

I think its Russo.....LOLOLOLLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!

What Strickland did was to

So vote McCain? lol ...
