(COLUMBUS) - Today State Senator John Boccieri (D-Alliance) released the following statement:

Joe Schiavoni Appointed to 33rd Senate District

COLUMBUS – The Ohio Senate Democratic Caucus announced today that Joe Schiavoni (D-Canfield) will replace Senator John Boccieri in the 33rd Senate District for the 128th General Assembly. The appointment follows John Boccieri’s recent election to the 16th Congressional District of Ohio.

“We have selected a young, intelligent and charismatic individual to serve as the new Senator from the 33rd District,” Cafaro said. “Mr. Schiavoni is devoted to the people of the Mahoning Valley. As an experienced attorney, his dedication to worker’s compensation and his philanthropic efforts exemplify a commitment to the representation of rights for working men and women.”

I am happy that Joe Schiavoni will be joining us,” Said Senator Jason Wilson. “I know he’ll bring his energy, his legal background, and his love for the Valley to Columbus. I look forward to working with him in the coming years as we help Governor Strickland turn around Ohio.”

Schiavoni is an alumnus of Ohio University and Capital Law School. He is currently a partner at the law firm of Schiavoni, Schiavoni, Bush & Muldowney, located in Austintown, Ohio.

“I am honored and privileged to be entrusted with the 33rd Senate District Seat. I will work hard to earn the trust and respect of the 330,000 people I have the privilege to now work for,” said Schiavoni.

He will be sworn into the Ohio Senate on January 5, 2008.
