Jeff Coryell Proves, Once Again, BNN Is Shit

Administrator - Posted on 17 September 2007

Jeff Coryell, aka Yellow Dog Sammy, happens to run the Ohio Daily Blog. That would be the same blog which has been widely referenced around the country as the site which hosted a comment outting Commissioner Tim Brown as gay, which consequently forced the homosexual commish out of the OH-05 congressional race. Heck, the Ohio Daily Blog is even getting referenced (admittedly without a reference by name. Boooo... bad NJ) in the National Journal:

Ohio.

A former aide to the late Republican Rep. Paul Gillmor decided against running for his former boss' seat after a posting on an Ohio political blog revealed that he is gay, the Toledo Blade reported Sunday. Tim Brown, a Republican Wood County commissioner, acknowledged his sexual orientation over the weekend after the anonymous posting claimed that he lived with a partner. Brown said he does not have a partner but decided against entering the race because his sexual orientation "would eclipse every other important issue." Brown also was concerned about the cost of running a well-funded campaign. Republican state Rep. Bob Latta announced last week that he would run for the seat and other Republicans are considering bids. Also, GOP state Sen. Randy Gardner, who is term limited, announced today he would not run. The 5th District seat has been vacant since Gillmor died Sept. 5.

Now admittedly, what happened to Tim Brown is deplorable. Folks' sexual orientation and identity is private, and it should have been Brown's decision to continue to keep his private, or make it public if he so wished. That said, it's hard to ignore the fact that this comment, placed on the Ohio Daily Blog, effectively impacted Brown's decision not to run tremendously.

O.K., so last week Jeff's blog forced a candidate out of a Congressional race. Hmmm, that's a pretty big influence in Ohio politics. Wonder what some other blogs happened to do?

One BS blog had a massive intra-site cry baby fight because they're all a bunch of whiners . Another Ohio blog went to the movies. Right Angle railed, as always, about how much they hate 'em damned lib'urls. Rothenberg blabbed on and on and on. And..and..you get my point.

Pretty clear to me that Jeff owned the Ohio blogosphere last week - I mean, his site took down a candidate. Damn. He clearly had more influence than anyone in Ohio during that 1 week period. But funny enough...

Shit shii shii shii shit.

He didn't even break the top 10 of BNN's random "throw darts against the wall and see where they land" influence rankings.

Go figure. Make sure you keep those "BNN Influence ranking" buttons on your sites kids. It's important to show the world that while folks are actually making news out there, BNN thinks you're tough shit.

And since some Ohio bloggers get all bent out of shape when we don't send them big 'ole congratulatory cards on their weekly BNN "victories"...I'd just like to send a very sincere congrats to Matthew on his #1 finish at RAB this week. Clearly, it was RABid's undeniable influence in Ohio politics, not BNN's owner Dave Mastio's Republican political preference and employment, that pushed RAB to the top. Congrats again!

Wanna come over and pick lice?
Plunderbund wasn't even listed this week. Even though we were number #2 a month ago. Not that I follow that kind of thing. :)
I have from good sources it was Scott Pullins website that was pushing the issue. An anonymous rumor wouldn't force a guy "out", but Scott was clearly pushing the matter and investigating it. According to his website: "A Wood County Republican Commissioner named Tim W. Brown got himself outed online for considering a run for Congress in the now vacant Ohio 5th District. OUCH. Very high placed sources tell us the allegation is true." Who is this high placed source? This guy is full of crap. He states "I skew libertarian on this issue and could give two hoots whether the guy is gay or not." So why even post it or look into it??? He hides behind the statement then publishes the rumor. Scott Pullins probably is gay himself.

And don't offend gay people by including him...

That being said, I read the Pullins post with jaw-dropping amazement.  This is the same Scott Pullins who tried to use corporate filings to suggest Ohio's First Lady is a lesbian and used to proudly display his Corsi's endorsement for his campaign to spread false rumors that Gov. Strickland is gay on his website.

Now, suddenly, it's an issue he could care less about?  Hypocracy, thy name is Pullins...

I said then and I continue to say now that I don't care about folk's sexual orientation and I don't. But boy, many in the GOP certainly do. I think it is interesting the fissure that this issue opens up for Republicans and I write about it sometimes. As far as pushing this thing, I verified the info in the anonymous comment and wrote about it. I sent my post to the SOB Alliance and a couple of other blogs, including this one, to provoke discussion. I didn't know who Tim Brown was before someone sent me the anonymous comment. I find this issue interesting because it points out the huge and growing influence of blogs to impact the political process. The fact that Ohio Daily isn't getting more attention, as Jerid said, is ridiculous. Scott Pullins
