It Is Time To Vote Dennis Out

David Potts - Posted on 15 March 2010

Yes, I said it. And I’m prepared to stand behind it.

You may remember back to the days of the Bush Administration, there was quite a debate about the S-Chip children’s health program. In fact an extension for the program came very near overriding a presidential veto, falling just a handful of votes short. You may also remember that Dennis Kucinich was one of the people who voted against it.

And guess what he’s getting ready to do again, with healthcare reform.

So Clevelanders, I urge you to vote no on Dennis Kucinich. Tell him your as sick and tired of his showboating, smile to your face while stabbing you in the back, Joe Lieberman style BULLSHIT as I am.

At this point, I don’t even give a damn if the Republicans take the seat for a term. It’d be well worth it in my book.

ytownboy3 encourages BSB to take two steps back and smell the coffee. You would propose dumping Kucinich because he thinks the current version of the bill stinks. He is right and it does stink, and BADLY. Dennis is right about the bill and is standing on principle. He does not want to settle for a bill that does more to further line the pockets of the provider industry at the expense of those in need. While his decisions are not always popular, he fights for his beliefs. BSB would be well advised to watch what you wish for..............one day you may be wishing there were more of him around than the crew who has placed a greater interest on currying the favor of special interests over what is right. That claim cannot be made against Dnnis Kucinich.

I know that this bill isn't perfect.

But I also know that the fight for healthcare reform has been going on for over 50 years. And I know that right now, we have a very good chance to pass many meaningful reforms that will help countless people all over the country.

What Dennis is doing is equivalent to refusing to sign a cease-fire agreement until both sides of a war agree on a full scale peace treaty, no matter how many more people will be killed in the process.

If Dennis is prepared to stand with his no vote on healthcare, I assure you that I'm more than ready to stand by my call for voting him out.

If he votes no — and I think that's a big "if" — you will likely see strong candidates step up to primary him, no encouragement needed. I'll be curious to hear what people like ytownboy say after Dennis "betrays" his "beliefs" and his "principles" and votes for the bill. The current version of the bill does not "stink." It is far less than we want and need, but it is on the balance good. Killing it means killing any health-care reform for a generation. Killing it doesn't mean that single payer or even public will rise from the dead like a beautiful flower.
Let's work together to retire Ken Blackwell from politics
It's too late for a primary this year, obviously.

constituent, Ms. Canfield of Strongsville?  What good are Dennis's principles to her next week if the bill fails this week with his NO vote?

Or to my sole proprietor biz friend whose Anthem insurance bill just went up 40 percent, prompting him to drop Anthem and take a risk of staying healthy at 57?

Or to thousands of Ohioans who lose jobs while having pre-existing conditions?

Perfection is the enemy of progress -- and DK is neither perfect nor a true progressive. His days are numbered and will be fewer if he maintain his arrogance of principle pretense this week.

Barack is trying carrots and sticks on Blue Dog Dems. Carrots won't work on DK.  He needs a big stick... like Dave says.

Blue Dog Rising
DK, DK, so Obama took you for a spin in AF1 and now your ready to vote for this DISASTER of a bill, thats putting us further into debt, destroying the best heathcare system in the world. YES reform is needed BUT NOT forced down our throats being run by the government. Americans are AGAINST this, they do not want this bill!! how many polls do you need to see that shows overwhelming response that we do not want this. WE PAY YOUR SALARY, WE ELECT YOU, YOU STAND FOR WHAT THE PEOPLE WANT, do what your job is and listen to your constituents!!! countless people come to the usa for healthcare they cant get ANYWHERE, including the Canadian prime, who came here and SHUNNED the Canadian system by doing so, a system that is behind the usa system by decades, where he would of had bones broken to get the surgey he needed there, but instead came here, paid out of pocket and get a state of the art surgey that NO BONES were broken, unlike in canada where that was the only way to do it since there technology lacks. things that will happen when the government takes over, long lines, quality of service is going to fall through the floor. WHAT DOES THE GOVERNMENT RUN THAT ISNT MESSED UP,OVER BUDGET?? they cant run ANYTHING successfully, the government needs to get back to being smaller, what happened to tightening the belt Obama?? please dont quote me those bias numbers from the CBO, they can only compute the numbers given to them and CANNOT question the numbers at all. YOU WILL BE VOTED OUT, same with every person democrat or republican who votes for this DEBACLE of a bill.
you can call for dennis's ouster but it doesn't mean a thing, david. there will be no ouster of dennis regardless of which way he votes on this bill. and your comparison of dennis to lieberman just earned you the biggest political dork idiot of the year award in my book.

Despite being in polar opposite positions, they both used their position as a needed vote to try and drag the legislation far into one side of the political spectrum.

It's the same tactic, and I stand by using that assertion at the time this post was written.

there is no principle behind lieberman's positions save his rabid zionism.  otherwise he's only a vindictive twit.  you might think kucinich is a twit, but if that's the case, he's a twit with principles.
