*IS* Mike DeWine still running for Ohio Attorney General?

To jump off of David's post about the ORP Central Committee NOT issuing an endorsement in the race, let me proposal a hypothesis as to why besides the angst he causes the conservative base in the party:  there's a real practical concern whether DeWine is a serious candidate.

In the two months since he announced, DeWine's campaign website has not been changed since it was created to announce his candidacy.  His campaign Facebook page has had no activity since the week following his announcments.  There was no response at all from DeWine on the newstory about the ORP Central Committee non-endorsement.  I've been unable to find any published reports of DeWine speaking to local civic or Republican groups.

In other words, since his announcment, I can find no evidence that a DeWine for Attorney General campaign actually exists today or not.  Now, even if the campaign DOES exist, wouldn't the fact that DeWine's announcement (which was not exactly WELCOMED or embraced by the ORP... family relationship be damned).  I mean Voinovich, Kasich, and Portman all worked with DeWine in the Senate.  And have you seen any sign that they're extending any support to his candidacy?  None of them even issued statements, let alone appeared, at DeWine's announcement?

I'm in the heart of the Ohio GOP primary country, and I can't find ANY evidence that DeWine is organizing support here.  If you've seen in your local paper that Mike DeWine is or has come to your community to speak since he announced in late July, please let me know in the comments.  I couldn't find any evidence of any such appearances through Google.

I'm not suggesting that he's not campaigning, perhaps he is.  But wouldn't the total lack of visibility or sign of any support for his candidacy trouble you, too, if you were the Ohio Republican Central Committee?

Is there still a DeWine for Attorney General campaign out there?

One possible explanation for DeWhine's inactivity? Perhaps because he's done some polling. Rich Cordray will CRUISE against either one of these losers. Basically, the ORP central committee just sh#t in it's hat and then pulled it down tight on it's head.
Apparently, the DeWines had their annual political ice cream social in Greene County. It mentioned that he would be speaking about his candidacy for AG. Meanwhile, the Ohio GOP State Dinner was held in nearby Warren County, and NONE of the coverage even MENTIONED DeWine's race, let alone whether DeWineattended or spoke.
It's official, Mike DeWine is the "keynote" speaker at the Geauga County Republican party steak roast on Sunday. In attendance will be such well known free thinkers Justice Maureen O'Connor of Cleveland Heights and Congressman Steve LaTourette of Alexandria, Virginia. So the campaign IS on.
