Recently, the Arizona state legislature unanimously passed a bill to ban "Bush lied They Died" t-shirts.

The shirts have the names of dead soldiers written in small print, and the use of these names for commercial purposes has angered many.

That said, this is still protected political speech, and the bill won't stand a chance in court. It is a sad truth that law makers cannot afford to vote against such legislation, for fear of voter retaliation, even when they know that bills like this are a waste of time.

These shirts have already been banned in Louisiana and Oklahoma, and Dan Boren (democratic rep from OK) is currently pushing for a nationwide ban. In a just world such disregard for his oath of office would get him a swift kick out of office.

Janet Napolitano, the governor of Arizona is a lawyer, and when her aid was asked whether Napolitano believed the bill constitutional, she answered simply, "the governor signed the bill."

I just read the bill. It makes it illegal to sell items with the name or picture of ANY U.S. soldier. EVER.

In the state of Arizona, it is now illegal to sell a t-shirt with the name of:

Theodore Roosevelt
Daniel Boone
Jim Bowie
Dwight D. Eisenhower
George S. Patton

You can't even legally sell a shirt with the name of John McCain. In Arizona.

This passed unanimously and was signed by the governor.

These people DO NOT take their jobs seriously.
