ICYMI: Rob Portman Triggers Graduation Walk-Out at "That School Up North"
(H/T Think Progress)
The junior U.S. Senator from the State of Ohio, GOPer Rob Portman, attended "That School Up North" for law school. When he was invited to speak at U of M's commencement ceremony, I'll bet he wasn't banking on this: Over 100 newly-minted lawyers walked out of their own graduation ceremony to protest Portman's anti-gay views and policies.
Public opinion on this issue is shifting rapidly. Just 7 years ago, the radical right fringe successfully used gay marriage to swing Ohio's 20 electoral votes for George W. Bush, but now two recent national polls show a majority of Americans support marriage equality. Who knows, by the time Portman runs for re-election in 2016, might his anti-gay views serve as a determient to his re-election effort?
