How Not To Give An Opening Statement

David Potts - Posted on 03 September 2010

As Ohio’s debates draw near, I’d like to share an example with all candidates of how not to give an opening statement.

This cringe inducing example was made by Arizona Governor Jan Brewer.

UPDATE: The Brewer campaign has pulled out of all future debates. To make it better, they claim they only did this one to qualify for $1.7 million more in public campaign funding.

She probably should have written notes on her hand ;-)
The thing that matters is: What do the voters of Arizona make of this? How is the local media handling the national uproar? And how are the voters responding the Gov. Brewer's failure to "recant" her statement that beheadings have taken place in southern Arizona? Some AZ tourist entities say her statement is affecting tourism adversely.
