How Has Governor Ted Let YOU Down?
Getting cocky after Tuesday’s election, the Ohio Republican Party has decided to take a major swing at Governor Ted Strickland. And I use the word “major” compared relative to running a joke like John Kasich against him.
Their new push, called “Turn Around Ted”, includes all the sorts of things we’ve come to expect from ORP: calls to do things they themselves wouldn’t (Bob Taft or Bob Ney anyone?), crappy web videos, and a countdown clock.
And all of this is aimed at pointing the blame for their mess at Ted Strickland.
But you know what, they’re right. Ted Strickland is a disgrace to politicians everywhere. Just look at his record:
- He’s actually had the nerve to lay out specific policies. He broke the first unwritten rule of campaigning!
- His push for education reform actually fulfilled a campaign promise, a slap in the face to insiders everywhere.
- He has yet to invest millions of our dollars in rare coins through a major (illegal) campaign donor.
- Has never been caught “hiking the Appalachian Trail” or learning the airport bathroom variant of sign language.
- He actually had the nerve to attempt to balance the budget without raising taxes. This surely amounts to spitting on the grave of Ronald Reagan, somehow.
- Time Magazine has yet to name him one of the three worst governors in the nation.
- His approval rating is still safely in the double digits, dozens of points over Taft’s all-time low of 6.5%. (But really, can anyone compete with that?)
For crying out loud, Strickland hasn’t even committed a crime yet! What kind of leadership is that?
But then, I’ve seen piles of road kill with better policies than John Kasich. Or maybe that was John Kasich? Nah, it couldn’t have been. The policies were way too specific and it wasn’t on FOX…
maybe he should
I'm sorry, but
He's let the states most vulnerable citizens down.
Governor Strickland (I thought I voted for a democrat) absolutely slashed funding for the Ohio Department of Mental Health (ODMH) and the Ohio Department of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services (ODADAS).
This despite the fact it will cost money in the long run as these people will show up in emergency rooms, court rooms, and morgues. But Ted knows this, or should, because he is a psychologist. But he's also a politician who had a budget crisis.
So he chose to save his political ass by cutting funding for those who have no voice like "crazy people and drunks", instead of asking Ohio's wealthiest for a small sacrifice.
I will vote for Strickland again, because Kasich is not the solution. Just because he doesn't act like a republican governor doesn't mean he acts like a democrat. Right now I think he is acting like a jelly doughnut. I am looking forward to the day when Ted starts acting like a democrat.

Strickland has also not called for Ohio to secede!!
