Good news in Iraq
I really don't understand the mentality of some right wing bloggers. Are they really this stupid ?
Is is too much to ask the mainstream media to report on the good news once in a while?
Like the fact that Iraqis have complete provincial control in 2 out of the 18 provinces?
Let me address some quick points.
Yes the MSM reported it. Here is a WaPo article from July - Iraq Given Control of Province, and another from the BBC. Here's' the BBC reporting on the Dhi QAr take over, and they note
Although the Iraqis will be taking over security responsibility for Dhi Qar province, British troops will retain what they are calling "operational over-watch" and coalition troops will be on hand to deal with any security emergency.
Maybe right wing bloggers should actually read the MSM before accusing it of not reporting stuff ? Just sayin'.

A number of Iraqi provinces have been secure for a long time. Particularly the Northern ones held by the Kurds. The fact that Iraqi's have been placed in charge of 2 more is hardly "good news" when you look at the situation with some common sense.
It's like saying that the 14 least populated counties in Ohio are secured but Cuyahoga, Franklin and Hamilton counties are in civil war. The vast majority of Iraqi's live in about 4 provinces, which happen to be the most violent provinces in the country.
On a day when it has now been recognized that Iraq is indeed in a civil war, looking for "good news in Iraq" by right wing bloggers seems to me to be about as disconnected from reality as you can get.

not "civil war"~ at least according to Bush~ I feel a lot better about Iraq now that Tony Snow assured us all that it is really just "sectarian violence that seems to be less aimed at gaining full control over an area than expressing differences and also trying to destabilize a democracy, which is different than a civil war, where two sides are clashing for territory and supremacy..."
I love that reporter for CNN, it's refreshing to see real reporting~ he referenced this site, check it out:

War Every Day (eIraq Blog)
Americans blame Iraqis, Iraqis blame Americans...
Jeff Severns Guntzel, Electronic Iraq (27 November 2006)
Democrats in Washington are attempting to shake off responsibility for the situation in Iraq and hold fast to their assertion that "American support for Iraq is not unconditional" and "we cannot save Iraqis from themselves." Iraqis, meanwhile, have not thrown the transformative event--the 2003 invasion and subsequent occupation--down the memory hole.
