Fred Thompson Tosses Coulter Under the Bus

In 2004 John Kerry was smeared by Swift Boat Veterans for Truth. In 2000 some Republicans had a taste of the same medicine when John McCain was victim to lies and innuendo during the South Carolina Republican Primary. Smears are as old as politics itself.

For political surrogates like Ann Coulter to ever be held accountable for her actions, you have to go directly to the politicians in her party that benefit from her politics of hate. Yesterday I met up with Senator Fred Thompson and I tried to get him on the record about Ann:

Why would Thompson refuse to take a position on Coulter. You either support her or you don't - it's a black and white question. Still, even though I asked multiple times, while standing right next to him, he refused to answer the question. I'd wager that shows he isn't onboard with Ann's politics of hate, but is too chicken because of his parties fundamental base to take a stand. Or maybe it's because there are still some feelings of hostility between the two. Who knows.
